Nightfall not kicking to Orbit. Can't access end game without completing the raid?
I said I was done, but here I am, still beating the dead horse. Why? Because you just don't get it. Are you actually trying to drive players away from your game?
Nightfall doesn't kick back to Orbit? Great, but that was your reason for no matchmaking. So why is there NO MATCHMAKING for the nightfall NOW?

So what does this mean, we cannot even access the weekly heroic playlist, nightfall and pvp End game challenges if we don't beat the raid? What if we can't beat the raid because there is no matchmaking?
edit: Many are speculating that this simply means the story must be completed to access End Game content and that is probably the case here, at least I would hope. However, this brings up a new issue - if one does not buy the expansion are they locked out of End Game content such as the new weekly heroic playlist, the new nightfall style pvp endgame, and the nightfall strike that has been available to anyone who purchased Destiny from day one?

Fun fact: The actual name of the Nightfall (in year one) was called Vanguard Dragon. The reason why they called it Nightfall is because the perk that kicked you back to orbit was called Nightfall. Now they just call it that because reasons?

So basically they are making it impossible to play any endgame without DLC. So they are taking away content for non TTK owners.... Pure genius [spoiler]said no one[/spoiler]

I don't think you have to beat the raid. They didn't say BEAT THE RAID so why assume that. Although it would be a fun mechanic. Beating the raid without max year 2 weapons. But they only said you had to "confront" oryx. Which is vague in itself. That can mean as little as killing his taken and seeing a cutscene with him in it...

1 ReplyIt looks like they want to establish endgame content like so many others have done in MMO's. I'm still on the fence on how it will actually play, but so long as it's done right, it could be a good thing.

I've no issue if it's only TTK content that it locks one out of ... I'm not buying it, so shouldn't have access to it - no problem. As others are saying, each DLC had a similar approach - you complete its "storyline" (can't type that without snickering a little) to unlock its endgame content. But if this is a subtle hint at further Bungie BS where not being able to complete the 'new' endgame (due to not having TTK) will lock players out of the 'new' approach to Nightfall, Weeklies, etc. ... then that's a definite problem. It's bad enough that they already refuse to create non-DLC playlists - like virtually every other game out there - for those who haven't bought the DLCs, and effectively remove access to existing gameplay content and options that those users had access to previous to DLC releases (I've got both - I just think it's a cheap money grab to pull something like this on those who paid for your initial product).

Hmm even tho I don't have the actual nightfall mission unlocked for my hunter ,bc I haven't completed story to get it. You can still join someone else fireteam and still do it...

This could be like TDB, how you are locked out of the omnigul strike for weekly activities until you complete the eris quests

Read this an thought not only are you stuck out of just about everything till we hit 40... now we have to do the raid too. look back at the tower twich and you will see they all had blue and green gear since they were not level 40. just about all the cool stuff and purple gear was locked at level 40. We all have been all but rest to level . [spoiler]The Grind is Real![/spoiler]

I would suggesting waiting and seeing. I believe it'll be complete the story first NOT THE RAID. So before forum melt down ensues... let's wait and see.

The forums will be rife with loners like u looking for people. I suggest you take advantage of this ground floor/fresh start opportunity. They will be there en masse, waiting for you. Make friends and have the same fun that the rest have been for the last year...

I think he meant just the new story missions same as the previous two DLC. That said, did you also catch there will no longer be the weeklong XP buff, but adjusted all XP values to compensate?

To my understanding, if you beat the story mode you unlock end game content (NF, Weekly, raid, etc). Like HoW.

I believe it means completing all the story Quests first just like how Omnigul was locked away until missions were beaten.
