The Taken King Stream Review (08/26/15)
I put a poll up not long ago to see who would be Lost Sols' replacement until he gets unbanned. After chatting a little bit with the man himself, I decided to take it upon myself to step into the shoes of a respected community member and try to fill the void. That's why I'm putting a recap up for you guys.
As of writing this, the stream showcasing one of the new Strike Missions coming in Destiny: The Taken King, has just ended. Honestly, I loved it. As short as the stream was, it was definitely very exciting to see what we're getting in just a few weeks. I think it's safe to say that this Strike will be complete chaos when it becomes a Nightfall, there is Cabal and Taken enemies everywhere, a Goliath Tank in a medium-sized room, and two massive bosses with new interesting abilities. We also caught a glimpse of the Arc Edge in action, it seemed to be working effectively. New marks and weapons were dropping, as well as being displayed. The most important part for me? The bosses aren't reskinned bullet sponges. You heard me right, this may be the end of those pain in the ass bullet sponge bosses. The new supers were showcased yet again, also showing that Titans can use their Hammer of Sol to grant themselves an overshield. No new exotics were seen from what I remember, just legendaries. I also noticed that there was a barrier above the boss arena, but instead of a static screen saying "Turn Back!" it now says "Returning To Your Allies!" with the countdown included, I'm happy about that. They will no longer be known as "Death Barriers", but now they will be known as [ERROR: CLEVER PUN NOT FOUND] and that excites me. I'll see if I can get Sols to send me a list of stuff he enjoyed or noticed and I will paste it on here when I can. TL;DR New weapons and armor were seen, the bosses aren't bullet sponges, no waves of enemies while Ghost scans things, great design and mechanics. Great stream all around, good work Bungie. I'm all hyped for the Court of Oryx stream now, and I'll update everyone when that happens. The full stream can be found on Bungie's Twitch channel under 'Past Broadcasts' so if you want to watch it again, go ahead. Until next time! ~Anarchy
There is no way I could be Sols' replacement.... I'm horrible at this.
EDIT: So, how many more people are gonna bash me for picking up where someone left off? EDIT 2: Welcome back Sols!

 • I will start off by saying I have enjoyed playing this fps since day one, the only let down for me was HOW, not the playable content but the weapons and armour. I have pre ordered TTK so I thought I would sit down and see what I'm getting. To start with it all looked pretty good I have to say, the feel of the environment, the new subclasses and the new bosses, so all good so far. Now the important things for me as a guardian is to look feel and be bad ass and the new subclasses ticked that box, however looking at the legendary weapons in use through the strike I saw nothing that said I want that, for an FPS guns, armour and power are top of the list for me. This brings me to the HUGE disappointment of losing some awesome exotics and all of my legendary weapons, armour I can deal with but awesome guns in an FPS, no. I don't want to lose any of my raid weapons, let me give you and example: when I equip my fatebringer and get that first head shot which triggers an electrical storm on nearby enemies, that just never gets old, it's awesome, not one of those weapons on the stream did anything unique like that, they all acted and sounded like average weapons that we already have, and that triggered HOW alarm bells. Then I started to think those new supers look awesome, I wonder how long it will be before the PVP players are calling for nerfs??? This was a chance to show off some new weapons to replace our old ones and in my eyes bungie failed here. I originally pre ordered the special edition of destiny and with that came a book detailing all the cool guns and armour, so I say again let us bring all our cool guns with us through this journey, let US decide when we get bored of them or find something better, nobody likes to be dictated to which is exactly what you are doing Bungie. So it is with regret that I have canceled my pre order of TTK until I see some solid reviews and decent weaponry to bring me back.
