Will you run VoG/Crota after The Taken King?
If random greens and blues are outperforming raid weapons, will you still run any of the old content?
I am concerned that unless they are being somehow re-worked to include a useful reward (other than the current 10 ish motes) that the only content worth doing will be the Taken King activities, and we will, once again, have a desperate need for content a month after release.
Even new players picking up the game for the first time will struggle to find a reason to run through a Hard Vog when the gear is below white level.
Edit- thanks for all the response, guys. Its good to see that a lot of people are still planning to run the old content. Personally I'll still run year 1 when I can (I still run them now weekly even though I've had all the gear for months) I was just concerned that not many people would bother anymore.

Hell yes. I regularly do VoG just for the sake of it. I loved it at release and I will continue to run it long after its rewards become pointless just for the fun of having a fireteam work together to pull through a proper challenge. Crota I will do just until I get the Crux because it is just a glorified strike that you can cheese your way through and doesn't give me the same sense of accomplishment.

4 RepliesStill need the fecking vog boots. And since armor stats now won't have as much impact, it won't matter what I'm wearing. Plus, TTK isn't the entire game- and all year 1 stuff will still be just as efficient in all content released prior to TTK.

Edit: If they do update the gorgon chest/deathsinger exotic drops I may actually do them on a regular basis, but I'm doubtful.

1 ReplyPersonally I would love to still run Vault of Glass post TTK. The raid is just so fun to me. Only issue will be if everyone else wants to run it, so I can actually find a group. :P

Get ready for story time. I started as a day one player. I was so excited for the game that I bought the ghost edition. Unfortunately, school controls much time. And my friend, who wasn't in classes as advanced as mine, was able to commit more time to the game. So when I was ready to run a lvl 20 vanguard strike, he was already running VoG with all 3 characters. So I gave up. Fast forward a few months, and school is over, I took my finals, did well, and the house of Wolves was about to release. I decided to get back into the game. By now, matchmaking had been introduced for weekly heroics, but I only played those heroic strikes. HoW came out, and I ran the lvl 28 PoE. I got my first exotic, Patience and Time. I was so excited. But it wasn't enough. So I put my fears behind me, and hopped onto destinylfg to find raiding partners. I learned 2 things from that experience. The raids are activities that absolutely everybody should do. The second thing I learned, which is a controversial opinion, is that matchmaking should not be available for raids. I used to be pro-matchmade raids, but now I see no other alternative. Anyways, I'll definitely continue to kill atheon, crota and skolas even when TTK comes out.

I raid because it's a fun and entertaining experience (also because I need the grimoire), so obviously hell yes.

I think a simple rework of the previous 2 raids would be appropriate, simply spice it up bring back some of the original difficulty (forever 29) and simply add the new exotics to the pool (call it VOG 36 - must have TTK for example) Easy way to keep it relevant with new items and appease both players who want useful rewards and people who play it for the challenge and the fun.
