A quote from 8 months ago.... seriously? This is all over reddit too. Posting it like it's a "gotcha!" moment. They were talking about tbd not destiny year 2. I get that people are mad that not all year 1 exotics will not be useful on year 2 content. I get that people are mad that you'll need to relevel the ones that come with us. What I don't get is all the inflammatory and hyperbolic language we're using. Bungie lied? They're "screwing" us. Come on, let's try to keep this in perspective
English

DeeJ said it again in a video about the TTK...
-
Now that's relevant to the discussion! When? Where? Why?
-
It's the video where they showed the pvp map with the halo type jump catapults. I don't keep a chronological log of all the destiny videos. But he says again, they want to respect the players time and effort more.
-
Now's that's a smoking gun
-
http://youtu.be/9cNIu0fMtMg "We want to be more respectful of players time. You should have something to show for it." DeeJ
-
Post this as it's own thread. This is much stronger than quoting from a weekly from 8 months ago. But be warned; replies will likely contain more sodium then the current daily doctor recommended allowance.
-
This^^^. Last part actually made me laugh. Thanks I needed that today.
-
Yeah I'm not really worried about it I guess. At this point if people still have unshakable trust in bungie it's because they choose to. Showing them this won't change anything. I was just pointing out that indeed, they are still lying to us and it wasn't just a year ago they promised to be more respectful of players time.

Edited by MortarGrunt06: 8/23/2015 6:35:31 PMHere's some perspective for you. They don't want us to feel our hard earned gear is obsolete, yet EVERYTHING they do renders it obsolete. They have changed the economy on us every time too, because they're trying to figure out what works. They've ignored ALL of the lessons learned by more experienced developers on how to design games to try to DO IT ALL THEMSELVES! All of this sort of points to Bungie not knowing what direction this game should be going in, not having a concrete plan that ties the economy together without having to completely overhaul it time after time, not being smart enough to "not touch the hot pan" after being duly warned it was indeed hot, and lastly, they really don't give a shit about angering and alienating the community that is their lifeblood (contrary to their statements claiming they do), which means they are lying to us and think we're actually stupid enough to believe them because they showed us some lack luster, irrelevant "fixes" in the tower that honestly should have been there since day 1. 72 slots for EVERYTHING in the vault now, and they were claiming it couldn't be done because of memory issues. Don't make me laugh, they were just too stupid and blind to think that anything other than how they had originally done it was not the right way to do it, so they simply disregarded the idea outright. So yes, Bungie DID lie (they're still lying), they ARE screwing us, they ARE prioritizing new players over existing ones. Maybe you've been bamboozled like the rest of the idiot fanboys that will zealously defend the honor and integrity of Bungie and their poster child for video game abortion known as Destiny until their last breath. And no, they also said what was in that quote recently, which is why we got to ascend all of our gear in HoW.
-
I hear your point. Unfortunately the language that you're using seems to be intentionally polarizing. Calling everyone that disagrees with you an idiot fanboy is not going to convince them that you are correct. More likely it will push them further into the other camp. Just a thought anyway
-
Maybe you're right. It isn't intentionally polarizing, though. This community seems pretty well polarized as it is (totally Bungie's doing, I had no hand in making it that way), so I doubt anything I say will really make the matter worse. And I'm not calling everyone that disagrees with me an idiot fanboy, I'm simply using the idiot fanboys as a measuring bar for how far a person can fall. If you'll note, I didn't say "you're just another idiot fanboy." What I did do was put forward the possibility that you'd let yourself be easily swayed, just like the idiot fanboys have done.
-
I know. And I agree that bungie is to blame for the polarization of this community. But not because of everything they did; it's what they didn't do. Communicate. They're not talking to us enough. They're ignoring us and the issues and so they fester. And now it's like the damn Wild West out here
-
The wild west only happened because it was permitted to become lawless. And yes, Bungie has refused to communicate with its community on a regular basis. Month 2: community calls for more vault space, Bungie's response was to nerf weapons in the crucible. And that was after telling us they heard us, and they were getting it done for the next patch. I think the demo of TTK is going to be strictly limited to the things Bungie wants to highlight because if they allow open access it will demonstrate several flaws and glitches in their product. They're going to show us several things that are done really well, but are totally irrelevant (like reskinned enemies and the interior decoration of the Dreadnaught) to throw us off the scent of how rushed and incomplete this DLC really is. Yet another example of how Bungie is refusing to engage in effective communication with the community it claims to hold in high regard. I no longer believe any of the information comes out of the heavily redacted propaganda machine (also called the hype train) that is what Bungie has become.
-
Necrochasm. An endgame reward. This weapon is hard to get, harder still because of the bug that was only fixed last week preventing people from getting it. They've said they are going to buff it for TTK, so that it's a viable weapon. A couple advertisement trailers released using the weapons, some ADVERTISING how the weapon will not suck anymore. Yet this weapon is getting tossed aside, yet a broken pieces of shit gun like the Last Word is coming forward? A gun that can be sold en mass from Xur? found randomly at any exotic loot drop? WTF bungie? You can't tell me that Bungie is the master of shitty communication to the player base. Weapon obsoletion isn't unheared of in this type of game, but rather than COMMUNICATING with us about how progression will go, they do it one way, avoid saying anything until the LAST SECOND before doing a 180 on their stance of exotics. Had they made this clear a LOT -blam!-ing earlier, instead of making us believe the opposite would happen due to how they've handled it in the past, then this wouldn't be an issue. Bungie has to start being clear with us, instead of pulling the rug from under us.
-
Yeah the necrochasm thing is pretty BS. But I'm not sure that it's verified that it's not coming over to year 2. Deej's character hasn't found a bunch of exotics. If he didn't have them they would not be displayed at the blueprint collection even if they are coming to year 2. There's a thing on reddit with a full list
-
That character was a test profile, probably had items "given" to it to demo the new changes. I doubt it reflects what DeeJ really has in his inventory.
-
Then he should get on the forums and communicate it...the dozens of people I use to play with half or gone, some are not coming back.
-
Because we haven't done that before.
-
In the teaser for the Stream, they had a different a screen where Necrochasm was unlocked as a year one, with no year 2 variant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNoAIuATSQE 0:33
-
Yeah... You're right. No year 2 necrochasm. Well that sucks.
-
Edited by MortarGrunt06: 8/23/2015 5:56:37 PMSo did necrocasm (it sucked that is), from what I heard from players that grinded hard to get it and ended up never using it because it was weaker than their legendary ARs. Just goes to show you that Bungie doesn't know what they're doing when it comes to weapons design.
-
No. They have said that they listen to the community. Well, if they did... This would apply. Also shitty statements like thus should not be made if they do not plan to keep it.
-
The statement in question was regarding the Dark Below, released only 3 months after the vanilla. Much different situation than the one we are currently in. Look if you're angry at bungie for the way they're handling year 2, fair enough. But speak to that directly. Don't dig through out weeklys to find a "incriminating" quote taken out of context.
-
It's more like being angry at how Bungie has handled Destiny as a whole, which is indicative of how they will continue to handle it moving forward.
-
Yeah, no denying that bungie has had a couple missteps and a couple more outright blunders. Bungie wants a happy playerbase. I can guarantee you they do, because of the financial impact alone. But bungie isn't replying or responding to anything on bnet these days. Why? Well these forums have become a hurricane of Bungie hate. We're screaming "£uck you!" nonstop into their faces. And so they run for cover. We choose how we communicate our displeasure to bungie.
