My personal favorite is Lord of Wolves. It has the longest range of any shotgun in the game even compared to max range with rangefinder or shot package. It also does more damage per trigger pull.
If you can master the range cap on it, 1v1 you will never lose to another shotgun (something I'm still working on)

I've never been killed by it but have slayed plenty of people using it.

It also isn't getting merged with shotguns so it will be king

That's why I said at max range. No other shotgun in the game can hit you if you're firing it right as the opponent enters range.

Absolutely. It's extremely hard, especially for someone who's mediocre St crucible like myself. But it's so much fun when it happens.

In terms of range and damage, it technically already is.

this is true, but with the way that it fires and the current range that other shotguns have cause it to lose shotty battles all the time

I have a friend that absolutely destroys people with LoW because he's pretty much mastered the range on it. If he sees them coming with a shotgun, he doesn't lose.
