Sadly feminism has lost its way... Despite what many feminists would like you to believe in many cases women actually have more rights then men in this country. In many cases feminism has lead to outright misandry. There is very little left for feminism to fight for and so it's gotten to be a bit ridiculous. It's ridiculous things like the whole teach men not to -blam!- thing that makes Feminism lose its validity. Men know -blam!- is wrong the fact is rapists do not care the same way a Serial killer knows what he is doing is wrong. Then you have to consider that the very definition of -blam!- is defined by the act of penetration which eliminates a mans ability to report unwanted sexual interactions with women. Even though technically speaking men report these kinds of interactions at nearly the same rate as women do. The whole teach men not to -blam!- campaign only creates a culture of victimhood rather then actually empowering women by putting their own safety in their hands. It removes personal responsibility from the woman and instead makes it the mans job to ensure a woman's safety. Despite the fact that a female parent is twice as likely to be abusive then their male counterparts women are still more likely to receive custody of children. Not only that a woman can choose to be a parent or not. Where a man has no choice and when the woman makes her decision he is forced to bear the financial burden. Hell there are even laws on the book in some states where a man could be forced to pay child support even if he his not the paternal father. Some of these things are actually things feminists groups have actively supported. Then don't even get me started on the fact that despite the fact studies show that women are more likely to engage in acts of violence towards men that 90% of people arrested for domestic violence are male. Women have reproductive rights to fight for... Men don't. I'm going to point out to here in America there are laws that protect women from genital mutilation, men don't have this right either. The wage gap does not actually exist because the misleading reports fail to account for the fact that men often put in more hours and take less time off as well as the fact that women tend to gravitate towards lower paying fields. i.e. A female doctor is more likely to gravitate towards pediatrics, rather then going for being a higher paid surgeon. However when you start accounting for the variables you find the wage gap almost completely disappears. Statistics show that men don't make more money because they are being paid more. They show that men make more money because they work harder and put more time in, and this is actually a result of the males defined gender role to be a provider. I'm going take this moment to point out also, women if you want want men to stop objectifying you for your body then stop being a hypocrite and objectifying us for our wallets. Despite that fact even, consider the kinds of work men do. You find in male dominated professions a man is something like 60% more likely to suffer a crippling injury or a fatality. Even a mans right to vote requires us to submit to military selective service an open ended contract with the military something women do not have to deal with. Then let's talk about female privilege... Like the fact that there are more avenues to receive scholarships or grants for females then for men and is it any wonder that females have about a 20% higher success rate in education then their male counterparts. In fact when you look at the very way our education system is set up you find that it favors females traits to male, and that fact is made clear by the education systems push to have 4x as many males medicated in order to deal with the education system then females. You are correct feminism was meant to bring equality to the sexes. However it has accomplished that in this country. Women these days have unprecedented amounts of freedom in our country. Unfortunately because of feminism the entirety of it has been flipped on its head to the point where now men are becoming under privileged. If you want me to take you seriously then do something worth while. Get some women in third world countries some rights. End this culture of victimhood among women in this country and quit treating men like we are all rapists. Quit denigrating women who have the audacity to suggest we teach -blam!- prevention. Trust me I'm all for equality among the genders, I respect women, and treat them as my equal. Unfortunately feminism has gone to far and is now tipping the scale in the other direction. I saw one person earlier post that it should no longer be called feminism but that it should simply be called equality. Feminism has a connotation of bias inherently in it and I think that needs to be separated from it. Only then can it work towards true equality.
