Good bye to all the toxic players
So I've been playing since beta, I have three characters all 34 if I put the armor on them for it. I've been through the highs, the lows, the buffs, the nerfs, vault of glass, crotas end, prison of elders. I still have my shadow price. Vision of confluence, G-Horn, the loot cave, I've seen it all. And let me say, I LOVE everything they are doing with the taken king. People are complaining that they are taking away our old weapons and armor, do you actually want to use the same weapons for the next ten years? You do realize that things change right? Why are you complaining that there are new weapons and items and activities out there to discover and obtain? They aren't just erasing all of your stuff, it will still be there, it just won't be the best stuff in the game any more. Which is what happens in every DLC/Expansion/sequel in the history of gaming.
So for all the people saying that this was a dumb move, or they aren't playing any more because they can't upgrade their fatebringer/G-Horn/Thorn, and attacking people for being ok with the changes, good bye and good riddance. You are part of the problem, not the solution. I hope you find fun some where else, but please stop poisoning this mostly great and helpful community.
Edit: for the people that don't get it, I agree it would be nice to have all of our things carry over, but in this type of game, that's the nature of it. Each time the game expands we will have to put our old toys away, and go out and get the new ones. Is it right, or going to make everyone happy? No, but that's the game design. I have no problem with people stating their opinions, but attacking people and claiming to boycott when everyone knows you won't is not going to solve anything at all.
Edit: if you get shut down by other people in another comment, I'm not acknowledging you unless you have something intelligent to say.

"The 2.0 weapon update will be pointless now because I can't upgrade my crutches...I mean guns". It's literally so boring to run the same load out week in and week out. Nightfall, raids, dailies - fatebringer, black hammer, Gjallarhorn. Crucible, iron banner, trials - thorn, feltwiners or final round spear. I'm looking forward to leaving behind all those weapons and finding the new and improved ones. Like dumping your old girl to date her hotter younger best friend. I can't wait to see what Hawkmoon 2.0 perks are or Last Word 2.0. Suros without focus fire. Come on, that right there is worth the price of admission. Thunderlord turns into flamelord. The truth 2.0 gets Wolfpack rounds. Ok maybe not that one. Or that new exotic sniper that blinds people in the vicinity with a precision shot. Gonna. Be. Sick.

You said in your edit you agree to have things carry over. I think people are mad they're FORCING us. Who knows there may be newer, cooler weapons and we're complaining about nothing... But I agree with the toxicity on these forums...I hate it.

6 RepliesPeople on here aren't toxic they just want what's best for the game do you really think that people wanted to buy all the dlc's and then get all the gear they wanted and weapons only to find out the those weapons and armour are now pointless in the next dlc? No If people would have known this before hand they would have just said it's pointless even playing and probably would have never spent any money on dlc for the game. Year 1 was pointless now so all that money that was spent on dlc was also pointless and bungie have got everyone under their thumb right now.

1 ReplyI have yet to even get a Fatebringer so it won't be that big of a deal to me but I do have g-Horn and Thorn and I'm perfectly fine with having to eventually move on... Who doesn't like new stuff? I can't wait to get the new weapons and see what is out there... I'm sure there are weapons that are gonna be just as good if not better... If you people don't want to move forward don't buy it and play something else... The rest of us won't miss you!

You would struggle to find anyone who enjoys and love this game more than I do. I was until this afternoon pushing for max grim, I have almost every exotic and worth while legendary gun in the game. I am now undecided about The Taken King. I had no issue with replacing legendary weapons, the exotic weapons and armour is possibly a step too far. It was always pushed that we would make our own story, it wouldn't be decided by Bungie, it wouldn't be controlled by them. However with each passing update that seems to be changing. I thought after the Dark Below they understand the frustration of players of lacking choice, which is what annoys me. Instead of saying "No" to all the guns, Bungie needs to go back and simply modify them slightly - the entire 2.0 change is pointless if you aren't bringing them forward. Isolate the issue and resolve that, don't remove them and limit choice. Fatebringer is the perfect example, people love it for trash mobs because of the firefly perk. The clearly is going to be a raid in The Taken King, introduce a handcannon and force the player to level it up (and even get X mount of kills) and then use it to infuse the fate bringer and bring the damage up. Want to bring exotics up? They can only be infused by the same exotic to raise its power. You couple that with the nerf, people will be forced to try new guns and if they're well designed they won't care. If they are badly designed Bungie has a get out card. Surely everyone wins?

2 RepliesThe reason they are doing this is pretty simple, balance. As they introduce more content, it will take more time to balance the more weapons that are relevant in the game. By leaving the year 1 gear behind, they only have to balance around the year 2 gear. The less time it takes to balance equals more content quicker and less man hours developing around an increasing arsenal of weapons. I'm not saying I agree one way or the other, just stating an objective opinion as to why they are doing what they are with their decisions.

It get that they put effort in the new stuff and they want peoplle to use them. But the reason people kept using the vanilla stuff is that the TDB and the HoW weapons were not on the same level as the vanailla ones. Even the vanilla exotics are fra superior to the new ones even the armor. We have 2 things to blame. First off all the grasshopper players and secondly the lack off creative vision of Bungie. The sins of the few punish the masses. This is what the core of the problem is here
