Good bye to all the toxic players
So I've been playing since beta, I have three characters all 34 if I put the armor on them for it. I've been through the highs, the lows, the buffs, the nerfs, vault of glass, crotas end, prison of elders. I still have my shadow price. Vision of confluence, G-Horn, the loot cave, I've seen it all. And let me say, I LOVE everything they are doing with the taken king. People are complaining that they are taking away our old weapons and armor, do you actually want to use the same weapons for the next ten years? You do realize that things change right? Why are you complaining that there are new weapons and items and activities out there to discover and obtain? They aren't just erasing all of your stuff, it will still be there, it just won't be the best stuff in the game any more. Which is what happens in every DLC/Expansion/sequel in the history of gaming.
So for all the people saying that this was a dumb move, or they aren't playing any more because they can't upgrade their fatebringer/G-Horn/Thorn, and attacking people for being ok with the changes, good bye and good riddance. You are part of the problem, not the solution. I hope you find fun some where else, but please stop poisoning this mostly great and helpful community.
Edit: for the people that don't get it, I agree it would be nice to have all of our things carry over, but in this type of game, that's the nature of it. Each time the game expands we will have to put our old toys away, and go out and get the new ones. Is it right, or going to make everyone happy? No, but that's the game design. I have no problem with people stating their opinions, but attacking people and claiming to boycott when everyone knows you won't is not going to solve anything at all.

I just want options. I'm fine with Legendary weapons and armor going away, that shit is take or leave, but exotics are supposed to be unique, to be the best. Think about how you play Defender, with and without Saint-14(or Gunslinger without Nighthawk, Warlock without Ram). It's pretty drastic, the differences between the playstyles. Getting new exotic weapons and armor isn't like upgrading a +10 damage sword to a +20 damage sword in an MMO, it's like replacing a skill in your skill tree. And that's not good. Imagine if, for The Taken King, instead of adding the new subclasses to the already existing subclasses, the instead replaced Defender, Gunslinger, and Voidwalker with Stormcaller, Sunbreaker and Nightstalker. People would riot. And that's what is happening, just on a smaller scale. Maybe I would be okay with weapons going away, MAYBE. But exotic armor is different. Plus all exotics have a great story behind them, if you go looking. I want to be able to tell the story of Dredgen Yor and Shin Malphur, exemplifying the weapons they used, to Guardians 9 years from now. I want to tell them of Pahanin, the lone survivor of Kabr's Fireteam, who created SGA in fear of being alone. Stuff like that will be lost forever.

Legendary weapons should become obsolete, exotic weapons shouldn't. Why can't we just ascend everything like we did with HoW? I want to build a collection of every exotic this game is going to produce and I want them all to be usable, not just become dust collectors that remain in the vault for sentimental reasons only. I think most people's only problem is bungie is taking away the choice from people.

I disagree with you Although you do make a point with this being the nature of the beast 10 years same guns ordeal it would be nice to have the option to use both old and new. If not for legendaries all exotics would have been nice Having every piece of exotic was a big deal for some of my friends now it's just here you go start anew I will miss my black hammer thorn gally vision and word of crota and sword breaker Can't wait to see the new raid gear and weapons from taken king

I understand they are giving some old exotics new perks, but why THOSE exotics? Why would they choose those ones over any others and render a majority of exotics useless and therefore a majority of the blueprint system, useless. Why would you want to buy an old year 1 exotic with low attack values if it's going to be worthless? If you are trying to make the argument of "they are only doing it for the unpopular exotics," then I would ask if you noticed The Last Word as being one of the new year 2 exotics, one of the most popular guns in pvp. Also why nerf/tweak things such as Thorn, Ghorn, and Icebreaker if we aren't going to be using them anyways? Old raids you say? Why would you waste time and resources re-tuning for outdated content that will have absolutely no relevance? It's like putting your seat belt on after you already got into a car accident. Furthermore, why wouldn't you just use the new year 2 weapons with higher attack values in there anyways. One of the devs goes out of his way to talk about how hard he has worked to get bad juju and that it will be the first thing he upgrades in TTK. Wouldn't this be a slap in the face to other exotic bounties? You work just as hard for other exotic bounty weapons and they will just be useless now? What sort of logic does this whole exotic bounty thing ground itself in? I'm all for using new weapons/armor, believe me, but bungie is removing so much content by doing this. There is absolutely no logic behind a change such as this other than the fact that Bungie obviously got lazy. This idea of giving us new, reworked versions of SOME, NOT ALL of our old exotics just seems like a band-aid solution. Instead of giving us all new exotics or reworking all exotics in some interesting way or even allowing all exotics to be relevant in 2.0 gives the game an immense amount of variety. Exotics aren't just weapons/armor, they are things that completely change our spec/the way we play; and Bungie is removing half of them. I will still play TTK regardless because I really enjoy the game, but bungie just took a serious chunk of content out of the game and a good majority of the players do not agree with this change, not just the toxic anti-bungie ass hats out there. (go look at the top threads on reddit right now) As it stands right now, we once we find all the new exotics in the TTK, we will actually have less exotics to use than we do now. Hence why this a step in the wrong direction. If you honestly think that allowing some exotics to carry over, but not all, is a good idea and not lazy, then you are just being an internet white-knight defending Bungie's poor design choice that is grounded in absolutely no logic whatsoever.

I agree 100%. I started destiny in October and i have also seen a good amount and you are right that this was a thing to expect...because many mmo's have done this...think it out like this. If it was year five and they allowed us to carry over our weapons...well not only would it be boring using the same guns over and over again...there would simply be too much items to hold and you would end up missing out on the new content [spoiler]in my opinion [/spoiler]

Weapons should compliment the character. Hunters should be more inclined to lighter or precision weapons as an example. They messed up by making the weapons be more important than the characters themselves and now it's making people mad. Bungie is literally building a game as they go and you morons are falling for it and funding the shit!

The Dark below days were the only thing that poisoned my attitude. I hated the game.. it was so tasteless having to kill crota over and over again... but then.. something changed in me. When house of wolves came out i fell in love all over again, the story was so in depth, the new weapon reforging was beautiful... PoE was an amazing activity that strengthened your bonds with friends. My brother fell behind.. He thought that it was terrible all his gear didn't match up to mine (I was a master trials player) and could only keep up in PvE, trials had poisoned his thoughts as dark below did for me. Then... June rolled around.. I made him watch TTK trailers, he was so close to quitting, me and him both loved what this game is becoming, ive paid for his game, his expansions, now a ps4 bundle so he can catch up in gaming (trying to get him out book collecting!) and be happy gaming in the 2nd year. Every bit of news, even from the twitch reveals, we're not complaining, we're happy. I told him this game was like WoW, year 1 didn't have enough to be like the greatest MMO, but in year 2, its starting to turn that way. Now that my story is out of the way, heres a tidbit from my clan, stop complaining... No one wants to hear it, not at a job, at school, at a store, at a restaurant, or even at the park ffs... This game is taking all the right steps in the right direction, if bungie actually cared about your complaints, this game would still be based around the crota raid... Yes year 1 legendaries are going, yes reforging is going, yes some exotics are going. Yes the old raids are only for materials (same as WoW) and yes tess everiss is gone. So what? Bungie is trying to make the leap forward... Ill make my living in each new major expansion, and live a strong as my year 1 legend had taken me... We have 4 weeks left before TTK, please.. Figure out that this game is getting better, my only complaint is that they took away the new vendors... But im not gonna sit here and make hashtags about it... Get over it. -Veneficus Ignis

Be nice just to be able to have the designs of weapons and armor (skins) transfer at least so we can wear stuff and look different instead of everyone is the same no matter what expansion it is. Simple fix but this point I simply think this company is the refuge of Bungie and not the actual core team.

2 RepliesI can live with the legendary changes, AS LONG AS the new weapons do at least the important things the old ones do. Such as: * Machine guns with Surplus. I hate running out of heavy ammo. * Shotguns still have decent range. * Primary weapons with Third Eye are available. * Elemental primaries. I HATE kinetic weapon grinding on Burn missions. * And as long as at least some of our exotics can come with us.

I honestly don't care what bungie does at this point. Destiny has been the best game I've played in a very long time. And I play lots of games. As it stands now, I would consider destiny one of my favorite games of all time. Definitely in my top 5. Also, I've never put as many hours into a game. The fact that I'm still even excited at all about ttk is amazing to me. I've never spent more than a few weeks on a game. Maybe 2 months of the game was really good. Bungie, do what you want. Your game is dope.

well before release, I knew I'd love this game. I'll admit, the initial draw was that Bungie is making a new franchise. but then they started to lay out their plan for it. an expanding universe over a ten year period. customizable builds to change up my play style. countless different weapons with perks you must unlock. space. 3 classes that all play differently. this was MY game, I felt. my lifelong obsession with gaming has led me to it. release day came, I was hooked on the grind as I knew I would be. 2 expansions(not DLC's) were announced so I knew my grind could continue for months on end. I knew I'd have to leave things behind when the new hotness releases, but that's exactly how I've lived my life as a gamer. only now that happens in this single universe. Destiny has already risen to a place in my heart that most games take several sequels to Reach(see what I did) and I'm ok with that. I expect there to be missteps along the way but that's the cost of setting new trends for others to follow, and they inevitably will.

3 RepliesI would be fine with them removing the year 1 stuff from rng completely so that it can be upgraded but no longer received. That'd make a distinction between years for sure. For all those that are complaining about not having it all carry over...they could just have nothing carry.
