Good bye to all the toxic players
So I've been playing since beta, I have three characters all 34 if I put the armor on them for it. I've been through the highs, the lows, the buffs, the nerfs, vault of glass, crotas end, prison of elders. I still have my shadow price. Vision of confluence, G-Horn, the loot cave, I've seen it all. And let me say, I LOVE everything they are doing with the taken king. People are complaining that they are taking away our old weapons and armor, do you actually want to use the same weapons for the next ten years? You do realize that things change right? Why are you complaining that there are new weapons and items and activities out there to discover and obtain? They aren't just erasing all of your stuff, it will still be there, it just won't be the best stuff in the game any more. Which is what happens in every DLC/Expansion/sequel in the history of gaming.
So for all the people saying that this was a dumb move, or they aren't playing any more because they can't upgrade their fatebringer/G-Horn/Thorn, and attacking people for being ok with the changes, good bye and good riddance. You are part of the problem, not the solution. I hope you find fun some where else, but please stop poisoning this mostly great and helpful community.
Edit: for the people that don't get it, I agree it would be nice to have all of our things carry over, but in this type of game, that's the nature of it. Each time the game expands we will have to put our old toys away, and go out and get the new ones. Is it right, or going to make everyone happy? No, but that's the game design. I have no problem with people stating their opinions, but attacking people and claiming to boycott when everyone knows you won't is not going to solve anything at all.
Edit: if you get shut down by other people in another comment, I'm not acknowledging you unless you have something intelligent to say.

24 RepliesIt's so much more than just weapons, that's what you sheep don't see. Bungie is leaving the whole game behind. PoE, CE, VoG, TOO it's all becoming as obsolete as your Black Hammer. Enjoy the new raid and patrol area. When you're done with them in a week you'll realize you paid $40 to cut 75% of the game out and there'll be nothing to do but sit around and wait for the weekly resets again. We're going from like 4 or 5 end game activities to 1. It's called The [b]Taken[/b] King for a reason.

I mean cmon. That sounds stupid right? Yes. Some of us do. I'm rather attached to my fatebringer. I wouldn't mind carrying it around for years. It's like an old friend. Never lets me down. But even then I could understand. Phase out legendaries. Fine. But not carrying up all exotics is simply a disappointment. The selling point of the game a year ago was "build your legend. Forge your guardian. Your gear tells your story of where you've been and your journeys through the game" I've been playing since beta too. I can be disappointed and express my displeasure. I've put a lot of hours into this game. More than a lot of average people probably. I've forsaken all other games for destiny. I've been extremely excited for taken King. Until his clarification in the weekly update yesterday. FORCING us to abandon our exotic toys is a poor move in my opinion. Just because some people aren't happy with bungies decisions doesn't make them "toxic" And lumping everyone that isn't happy together as toxic shows how ignorant you yourself are.

I completely agree with this in every way. The thorns, final rounders, blink shotguns, will all be hopefully irrelevant. House of Wolves was lack luster because of the fact we all had better weapons. All the weapons and armor, couldn't compete with what we already have. I'm glad to see all these weapons being left behind because we now have to find the best weapons we can find and fall in love with them. It will make PvE more challenging and PvP more fun, balanced and require more skill to succeed. Everything that is happening in TTK I completely agree with and although i may not like some of the changes, im still glad with what is happening. Even though people will be salty about the changes, they're fully necessary. The reason why HoW was so lackluster was because of the how bad every gun was compared to previous guns. And this is also the nature of these types of games. Developers don't make entirely new armories of guns for you to just ignore. People need to stop crying about their left behind weapons and armor (Which are not being taken) and be more excited for the new things that we get to use and enjoy.

1 ReplyYou are among the minority. They can nerf Gjallarhorn to the ground and make it do 1 damage. What I disagree with is not bringing Exotics along through all the DLCs. Not keeping legendaries was a controversial choice, but I can accept it. Leaving Exotics behind makes no sense. You see that they are not making good changes right? Year 1 Exotics, regardless of whether they have a Year 2 version, must all be releveled. This is exactly what happened in TDB, and nobody liked it. Ascension was the best system to come to Destiny. But I feel it could have been tweaked so that only 1, maybe 2, Ascension materials can drop a week. Ascension kept old content relevant, and new content was relevant because you had to play it to get the materials. With the nerf to some of the perks from most Year 1 gear, all they have to do is make new weapons and armor that are actually good and can compete with Year 1 gear. Then, ALL content becomes relevant.

Lot's of the people who don't want year 1 gear upgraded are also extremely toxic people both sides have their rotten tomatoes doesn't mean everyone who doesn't want their gear to become irrelevant is toxic

I just want options. I'm fine with Legendary weapons and armor going away, that shit is take or leave, but exotics are supposed to be unique, to be the best. Think about how you play Defender, with and without Saint-14(or Gunslinger without Nighthawk, Warlock without Ram). It's pretty drastic, the differences between the playstyles. Getting new exotic weapons and armor isn't like upgrading a +10 damage sword to a +20 damage sword in an MMO, it's like replacing a skill in your skill tree. And that's not good. Imagine if, for The Taken King, instead of adding the new subclasses to the already existing subclasses, the instead replaced Defender, Gunslinger, and Voidwalker with Stormcaller, Sunbreaker and Nightstalker. People would riot. And that's what is happening, just on a smaller scale. Maybe I would be okay with weapons going away, MAYBE. But exotic armor is different. Plus all exotics have a great story behind them, if you go looking. I want to be able to tell the story of Dredgen Yor and Shin Malphur, exemplifying the weapons they used, to Guardians 9 years from now. I want to tell them of Pahanin, the lone survivor of Kabr's Fireteam, who created SGA in fear of being alone. Stuff like that will be lost forever.
