And before you start, I main a Titan. It is my favorite class.
Here goes.
Titans shouldn't have blink. First of all, cosmetically, it would look funny. Here goes this hulking soldier, clad in armor made from the heaviest materials, jump up in the air and poof away like he was a fairy. Yuck.
Second, the Blink nerf is justified. It is abused in Crucible, and it has excellent synergy with the Felwinter type shotguns. Without a doubt, it is the best jump for PvP. However, it's only available to 2/3 classes. Leaving the Titans at a disadvantage.
"So just give Titans blink! Then it's even!"
No, then everyone would be blinking everywhere like they have something in their eye. It'd be hectic.
In my opinion, blink should've only been exclusive to one class. Warlocks or hunters, whichever. Titans have the same jump abilities on all three classes, and catapult barely works.
"But you Titans get shoulder charge so stfu and git gud"
Shoulder charge is an ability. Not a jump. And shoulder charge isn't as useful as you think, it's balanced. It takes about 3 seconds to charge, and you have to use it within a 5 second time window or it goes away. I use it more for mobility in the air than I do killing people with it.
My solution for Titans? Don't give them blink, but give them something completely different. I was hoping Titans would get some sort of militaristic dodge roll, since they are the soldiers. But that was given to the Nightstalker for hunters as Shadestep.
So, maybe they can give Titans a type of omni-direction gear movement. Like so. On the Jump tree it would be as follows.
"Thruster"
It would work similar to regular Lift, but on the ground or in the air, double tapping X or A would cause the Titan to "thrust" in the direction of the analog. You could also thrust down, to get back on the ground faster and dodge incoming projectiles. However it does have a cool down so you won't be thrusting every where like Speed racer.
These are just my ideas to give Titans a little more personality instead of slapping Blink on their skill tree cause everyone else has it. I want the Titans subclasses to have some diversity in the Jumps instead of repeats.
Thoughts?

Lore wise only the warlocks would get blink if they made it exclusive to one class. Since warlocks invented blink and taught it to the hunters. I couldn't care less if it was removed as I only use it for trials but I have friends that use it for pve and love using it defensively

I was expecting some Warlock or Hunter complaining about how we shouldn't have Blink because they don't have shoulder charge, but instead found this well thought logic and arguments. For that thank you, I agree with your statements completely and love the idea of a thruster pack for our Titans. On a different note I do think that for the same reason of it being silly that we can't Blink because our hulking mass, Bungie seriously needs to readdress The Ram helmet. For no reason what so ever should a cloth wearing book worm be able to live past stuff our armor clad soldiers can't survive.

I hope bungie will use your idea

Edited by Soul_Eater_42: 9/2/2015 5:30:00 PMFunny thing about that. I made a similar post a while back, though, more or less, a way to make all the classes more unique. I'll have to link it later. Can't quite do so from my phone. Edit: Ok, so here's the link

I like it.

1 ReplyLove the idea I bet the Catapult jump was supposed to be exactly that but it would have: A. Made the unfinished games' Catapult ability only usable by buying TTK or B. Made the unfinished games' Catapult ability completely break the game C. Made the unfinished games' Catapult ability fun for titans. They just cant have that. D. Made the unfinished games' Catapult ability instantly kill the titan therefore nerfing values to the ground before release My money is on C....though the D. is more likely.

I like the idea. It sounds similar to the dodge system on metroid prime

Edited by R0C95: 9/2/2015 12:36:31 PMWe don't need blink. But yeah an evasive maneuver would be sweet. And warlocks should not have blink at all. The are the slowest of the bunch. It doesn't make sense for them to have an 'agile' jump like blink. Hunters, since they can't take damage anyway, should be the only ones with blink.

3 Replies"A hunking soldier blinking around would look funny" But a guy in a bath robe and a goat mask tanking looks fine.
-
1 ReplyYou're right, Titans should not have blink. They should be the first class in the game with "double-blink". That way it balances everything out 😏
-
1 ReplyI see now, something like the thruster pack in halo 4? That would be pretty sick on a titan.
-
3 RepliesI really like the thruster idea.

1 ReplyI did main a titan, now i main a warlock. Tried playing titan again feels weird but i cant get back into the rhythm i had. I love both classes but warlock feels better i guess. Any tips to get me back to being a titan?

Increased control jump + shoulder charge fastest movement possible in this game

2 RepliesTitans don't really need blink, it's for agility builds and has a timer, it actually severely limits a hunter from reaching areas that warlocks and titans can get to. It is used to quickly navigate a battlefield and enter and exit firefights quickly, the shotgun thing was a result of people being people, smart. Point here is that blink completely contradicts the entire idea of a super soldier master chief style, which is what a Titan is imo, and that's pretty dope.

11 RepliesTitans don't blink they stare at the sun till it blinks. And that's how they broke the sun.
-
I like that

2 Repliesyou use shoulder charge for mobility more then killing people? funny thats what I use blink for! they can compared because they are both a form of movement, its just shoulder charge is more useful. instead of blinking in and shot gunning someone you can just shoulder charge and skip that last step.
-
I think anyone who says titans need blink are idiots.

End the blink strike crutch

3 RepliesMy titan has been my main from day 1, titans should get blink.
-
How about catapult changes to the jump from evolve, where they go flying forward?
-
3 RepliesDidn't read. Don't understand why this is even a discussion. We don't have blink. We're not getting it. Doubt we ever will. Don't care. Why are we discussing it like its a thing.
-
5 RepliesIt feels like your preaching the mantra "titans are tanks.....". There are no tanks in the game. Even ram warlocks aren't as much trouble as people make them out to be. The problem is blink is even better defensively and titans get nothing to even the playing field. I've played all 3 classes in PvP. There are just so many times where as a Titan I get locked in my boots by situations I have a chance to counter with my lock/hunter. There is a reason the vast majority of top tier pvpers don't main a Titan. The numbers don't lie.

Looks like we have same jumps

Titan is the only class I don't have ( yet, waiting for a buddy to get on destiny ) and I agree 100 percent. Pretty skimp only 2/3 classes have an op dodge move.
