Give your reasons please.
As a lifetime PC gamer I was thinking of getting a XIM4 so I can use my Razer Keyboard and Mouse for Destiny. I play FPS's so much better with them.
Edit: glad to see the majority don't consider it cheating even if they don't agree with using them. For the people voting 'Yes' my question is: Are you a PC gamer? Have you ever tried Keyboard/Mouse on a console? Also, I believe that if you do consider it cheating, then any unofficial controllers, Kontrol Freeks etc etc are also cheating. Using the new xbone controllers coming out would also be cheating too then. Do you consider using a headset cheating? It gives you an advantage over non-headset users as you can coordinate attacks or get warned about incoming supers. That's unfair to non-headset users. That's the kind of logic you guys are arguing.
Edit 2: DeeJ or Cozmo, can we get an official Bungie stance on this please?
Edit 3: people are grossly misinformed as to how a keyboard and mouse works on consoles. You are still limited to the sensitivity constraints the exact same as the controller. Do not compare PC gaming to console keyboard and mouse. Aim assist really works against you also.

It's banned in MLG competitions, so I consider it cheating

1 ReplyOfficially it is a modded controller. You have more buttons for more options. But since there are no advantages, I personally don't care and just laugh at whoever wants to do it. It seems like it only makes things harder
-
3 RepliesWait, mouse and keyboard AND sticky aim. No, that's just unfair lol
-
2 Repliesif I'm not mistaken, getting a mouse and keyboard to work on PC requires illegal modifications to your console's hardware. if this is indeed the case, then yeah, it's cheating.
-
LOL just saying u splet cozmo wrong
-
2 RepliesI could care less about keyboard and mouse. Just let me turn off Aim Assist in the damn settings.
-
If it's on consoles, I lean a little more towards yes. If it's controllers on pc, I lean a little towards no, but it depends on the type of controller and if there were any sort of "heavy" modifications.
-
No. Kb/M is superior but not cheating.
-
3 RepliesI don't feel it's cheating just choice of control method. I know people that use controllers on PC games, which are designed for m+kb and I don't see that as cheating.
-
2 RepliesIt's funny because I've seen people get banned on 360 for using kb+m because it's classified as a "modded controller"
-
It's obviously cheating, you get an enormous advantage. Didn't realise there were so many m+k users though judging by the number of nos. I hope Bungie bans everyone who voted no.
-
I said its cheating simply because you are not using a standard controler like everyone else is. Its like over or under inflating balls in sports. Might not entirely make a difference but if youre officially competeing everyone should be using the same gear. Pve it doesnt really matter but competitively it may. Over all I dont really care. I use controllers on PC. So it really just depends how offical you want your competition.
-
No, we all know that Kb/m is the more superior option in fps.
-
Doesnt make a difference since you are limited on sensitivity. Therefor its fair game.
-
3 RepliesIt not cheating. Some people are better with keyboard others better with controller. As long as your not lag switching or taking drugs to make your reactions faster or thumbs move faster.
last part was a joke. Don't do drugs though.
I started on doom, obviously with a mouse/keyboard. Only since Destiny have I used a controlled. It's frustrating because I know I would do better with a different setup. I have no place currently to play on a mouse/keyboard though so I struggle on.
-
Some people can aim and fire a glock unassisted, and some people need a laser sight, a scope, and the target to be a little closer.
-
Keyboard and mouse is raw cheating

Edited by Mindshard: 8/22/2015 8:21:45 AMIf things like the XIM units are allowed then I don't see why modded controllers with auto fire and things like that aren't. Both use hardware to give you an advantage. Both are peripherals that were never meant to be used with the game. In regards to your post, headsets and other peripherals like that have full in game support. The game designers intended them to be used. Unofficial controllers that add in rapid/auto fire were not and that's why they can get you banned if detected.

I like controller better

I think it probably technically is not cheating, But i dont agree with the logic of the new xb1 controllers. Other tham that controller mods other than provided like the gear you can put on controllers to make more ergonomic is in that grey area I am a pc gamer i prefer counsel in a way but in all to me it comes down to mouse and keyboard being as simple as point and click its much easier once used to it so it kinda gives an UNFAIR advantage but not one that would break rules there arent really specifications about that for competitive destiny events, like theres no arena crucible matches where that may be illegal there in competition in everyday play id just call you a bit of a douche but not complain about it
-
6 RepliesI think it's cheating. I've played lots of games on the pc, and it's giving yourself a functional advantage over players who use controllers, for which the game was designed.
-
3 RepliesI see it as low level cheating. The game is meant to be played with a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. It's not that big of a deal though. I would say it is about the same as using a modified ps4 controller. By modified, my spring in the right trigger broke due to bad controller design. Sony wouldn't replace it so I had to remove the tension spring inside. Now it's a hair trigger. I am not going to go out and pay $70 for a new controller every time they break when I can remove the spring and have a controller. Now if you are talking a rapid fire controller, that's hands down cheating. PVE I don't care, but using rapid fire functionality in PVP is bogus.

I don't think it's cheating. It's like comparing muscle cars to tuner cars they both still do the same thing just one looks different and behaves differently. I feel like if it comes down to a tournament scenario than everyone should use the same gear for fairness and that way it takes the equipment out of the scenario and is purely skill based.

Im not a fan cuz your aim can be super on point compared to a controllers but i dont think its cheating necessarily. I use scuf and ppl think thats cheating and i say...but..its MLG approved!! Lol
