So, I decided to figure out what a Fatebringer is "worth". Here's the math:
1. I've seen it posted that the drop rate of Fatebringer is approximately 10%. That seems about right based on my experience. So, on average you'll have to run 10 raids to get one, and each raid takes approximately one hour. (let's just assume you do the full raid and don't bail after the Templar.) So, that's 10 hours.
2. Once you have it, you'll have to level it by completing bounties, killing enemies, etc. Taking a wild shot in the dark, let's say that takes another 2 hours. So now we're up to 12 hours of "work".
3. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average hourly wage in the U.S. is around $25. Therefore, a 300 damage Fatebringer that took us 12 hours to obtain and level is worth 12*25 = $300.
But wait.... Now you have to ascend it. So you have to get yourself an Etheric Light. So that means running the PoE on 34 at least once. That's another half hour, or another $12.50.
So, all told, a Fatebringer is "worth" about $312.50.

Edited by theBaDRaD: 8/21/2015 2:43:01 PMBureau of labor statistics Average $25 per/hr Lolz They must go out drinking with the group that calculates minimum wage This is a great example n explains so much of these forums.... Whos voice is the loudest

2 RepliesDoes nobody see his link to the The BLS? Maybe click it before you say an average wage of $25 is BS.
-
TIL People don't know what average means.
-
3 Replies$25 an hour average. That's a -blam!-ing good joke right there.
-
But that's just a theory. A GAME THEORY!
-
Let's say 7.25 an hour as minimum up to about 30 . Balance that and you get 18 dollars minimum so your actual amount is about $ 243 or a little more
-
I'd much rather have my real judge than my virtual fatebringer though...
-
1 ReplySo, £312.50/$490 for us Brits?
-
3 Replies10% drop rate my ass, I have 57 Templar completions and no fatebringer
-
It won't necessarily take 10 tries you will have a 10% chance every time meaning that it would most likely be a little less or a lot more than your predicted price
-
3 RepliesRead people.... He said average hourly wage. This means the low and the high gets averaged.
-
1 ReplyMy glock was worth about 700 when I bought it new. How can my glock be worth more than my Fatebringer? Your math is clearly wrong.
-
Everyone seems to be pointing out how most people in America don't bag $25 an hour, so moving on: This also assumes that you don't value the other gear at all. In a way, however, you're "spending" that time getting everything else that drops outside of Fatebringer, which cuts into Fatebringer's overall cost, right?
-
Probably should use the median instead of the average if you want to see what the average American makes. what the average American makes and the average wage are completely different numbers.
-
Lol güd job
-
3 RepliesOk, so by that logic, if you've gotten a Fatebringer, that means your $60 for the game was well spent, you've earned more than $240 profit, and everyone should stop whining about the price on the forums
-
2 RepliesSo for all the ppl trying to figure out how the average is $25 an hr it's not a normal bell curve there are way more ppl at the low end of the spectrum but when athletes, CEOs, etc are making several hundred dollars an hr it skews the scale. So as someone said for every person making 7.25 someone would have to be making ~40/hr while that is true in the simplest form, someone making $400/hr equates to 10 ppl making minimum wage. Also 25/hr is only about 50k/year. If you don't make that much chances are you are below 30, a student, unemployed, retired, or don't have a college education. There are many parts of the US that you can't afford to live on your own with an income less than 50k/year.

Don't think playing destiny is worth paying the average wage, minimum wage work at best :p
-
you have never worked in the U.S before if you think the average HOURLY wage is 25 bucks an hour. What state do you live in? I have a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and that does'nt even gaurantee me that much.
-
10 Replies25 an hour my ass.

1 ReplyEdited by IceIllex: 8/20/2015 3:07:34 PMWhere the hell are people on average getting paid $25 an hour in the US? Guess I need a new job lol
-
Perhaps you should learn logic before using math.
-
11 Replies$25 an hour? Damn where can I make that kind of money?
-
What about the hours required in order to actually obtain access to the VoG?
