Moribito is about a lady spear-weilder (the badass kind, not the token fanservice kind) who is hired (but more or less forced) by the second empress of TotallyNotJapan™ to kidnap/protect her son, who has been possessed by some form of spirt, and to save the country from a great disaster, is due to be executed by his father, the emperor. It has some rare, but EXCELLENT fight scenes, and is a great coming of age story. Definitely in my top 5 anime of all time.
Gargantia, on the other hand, is about some kid in some kind of space military that flies around killing space squids, "for the good of mankind". After a battle goes south, he gets shot through a wormhole and crashlands on Earth, which is now 100% covered in water, and everyone lives on giant clusters of connected ships (referred to as "fleets"). He and his giant robot suit/bff have to basically learn how everyday life works, then later in the series there's a really dark twist that I won't spoil here. Honestly I went into Gargantia expecting it to suck, and it was surprisingly good.
BTW, I'm not sure of you're a sub of dub guy, but I've seen both for each show, and this is one of those rare times I'd recommend dub.
They're both less than 30 episodes, I watched both (one after the other) in about five days, and the only reason it took that long was that I had to work.
Anyway, if you decide to check the shows out, let me know how you liked them.
Happy viewing! :)
