In Destiny, we know about DLC. But wouldn't you rather keep funding a company, and let the story develop as your character develops over the years Destiny is said to last? That's way better than an annual release PvP FPS. Of course, it could all be free with an ingame currency you have to pay for to get new Sparrows, Ships, Ghosts, etc. Like most MMO's. What do you think is better?

Not all DLC is bad. It's very good when you pay $15-$40 for a sizable chunk of new playability into a game that perhaps you were getting a little bored with. It's bad when it's "give us $15 for this content that is so blatantly on disc it literally hurts your wallet. Your wallet will actually scream in horrendous anguish, but hey... content." It's abhorrent when it's paying $30 for 4 things, one of which is on disc content behind a pay wall, $5 for skin packs, $3 for emoticons, $5 for another skin pack that we could've included in the previous skin pack but this one has blue so make like Luke Smith and throw money at the screen already, and we know you bought the season pass but that doesn't include customization options (those are optional). Did you want your character to move? Asynchronous leg movement is optional. (RvB fans, you know where I'm going with that) People bitch about the DLC but Destiny is not the worst offender by any stretch, I'm looking at you Mortal Kombat X. And at least when you do by the DLC for Destiny it works, the day they release it. I still haven't played Tremor because somehow despite my purchase of the Kombat Pack and download of the character, plus day off update he's still greyed out.

I think all of the above are fine for their respective games. People just get bent out of shape because they feel like they need to buy these extras to experience the full game when they aren't needed at all. They also feel cheated because they think they know how game development works, and that all of these must have been finished with the original game and just withheld to get more money.

9 RepliesSee the thing is, destiny does NOT HAVE dlc. It has paid for unlockables. I bought TTK and it's already installed. Meaning it's on disc, but it'll be unlocked 9/15.

1 ReplyKeep funding?,what are you on about?they made their money back and then some.Originally the first dlcs were given free when a game did really well as a thank you to customers, now its just another greedy excuse to rip people off.Do you really think they are going to stop making a game like destiny cos their shitty dlc doesn't sell well? They made their money back on the base game.Reality is everyone should boycott this behaviour to force a better product and attitude but stupidity reigns supreme.

Edited by Muted: 8/28/2015 11:07:47 AMNo. As long as the game itself has a lot of original content, but in this case? Yea its pretty bad

I have no issues with it. I started gaming in 1983. Short of the all time greats, like Zelda, 90% of games you bought full price were lucky to have a few hours of game play. For every metroid, there were 25 generic platformers. I still have almost all my old Atari/nes/SNES games and most could be beaten in one afternoon sitting. The amount of content we get today for the same escalated full price is ridiculous. If DLC is the way of the future to keep gaming companies viable, I'm all for it. I'm still getting my money's worth.

Edited by R3M: 8/18/2015 12:57:44 AMWell, yes, and, no. Way back when there was no DLC, that meant you were getting a complete game. On paper DLC is great, getting additional content for a game that you love seems like a great idea, and only for a couple bucks, but nowadays companies see it as a green light to cut content, sell an unfinished game, and milk more money from you, just so the player can feel like they've finally done it all. Don't get me wrong, there are many games that have done and continue to do the whole "DLC" thing right. But most of the time it's just a money snatching scheme.
