How did he manage to get that emblem? Was is as a reward while playing in Sony's booth at E3 2014?

You had to go play destiny and get a electronic wristband, then go to the photobooth and get your photo taken with the dreg captain or sparrow. They scan the wristband and you put in your email address on a tablet they had at the photo booth and they email you the emblem and alpha access. I heard they also gave these out at pax.
