I think it does in a way, but some people forget that a lot of gamers have lives outside of destiny. I've been playing since week 2 or 3 and I'm almost to 3000, and that's mostly due to my restricted playing time since I work offshore 21 days on and 21 days off, and when I come home I have a wife and a daughter to spend time with. So I think it shows more of what people have accomplished along with there skill level if you take into account their lives beyond the game.
