Do atheists feel threatened by Christianity?
Nearly every day we have like 10 new topics made my atheists bashing Christianity or trying to disprove God's existence. I don't have a problem with the posts but the amount that we see every day in Offtopic got me thinking that maybe Atheists feel threatened by Christianity, which would explain their obsession with making it look foolish? Now I fully expect atheists to deny this claim. So my question I guess is, why are some (I say some because I know not all atheists behave this way) atheists so obsessed with disproving Christianity?

Well I mean I feel a certain amount of rage towards Christianity as a good amount of Christians are, unfortunately, biased morons who seem incapable of evolving to Homo Erectus. However, I do realize that a fair amount of Christians are not like this, and are actually accepting and friendly. So I tend to go after the less evolved Christians myself, and fully ignore the ones who aren't assholes and mind their own business. Unfortunately, many atheists, when attacking bigoted Christians, tend to target Christianity as a whole, which is obviously the wrong way of doing it. That's not to mention the media tends to focus on all the terrible things bigoted Christians do instead of the good things normal Christians do, giving everybody a skewed view on the matter. So a message to my fellow anti-bigoted Christians: target those who legitimately deserve to be crushed, and leave the civilians out of it. Don't attack all of Christianity, attack the specifics.

6 RepliesI don't think it's that atheists feel threatened, I think it's more that, often, when people discover their atheism, or subscribe to any ideology for the first time, there's a tendency to want to spread the word and fight for the cause or something. It's the same thing with anything else, born again Christians, animal rights activists, anything you can think of.

allow me to pontificate for a moment: 1. all life in this dimension is linked to another dimension via quantum entaglment (molecules spinning at the same speed and what not) 2. when our physical bodies die we cease existence in this dimension but continue in the other 3. god is an interdimensional being and the only one capable of travelling between the two 4. we don't yet have the technology to communicate or travel to the other dimension but we are advanced enough to be aware of its existence 'god' and science don't have to be mutually exclusive ideas

106 RepliesI'm doing humanity a favor. You're all so blind and ignorant, and I'm trying to help you see the light of logic and science. Anyone who isn't blinded by their religion and who can think critically can clearly see that there is no logical reason to believe in any religion. Religion needs to stop holding society back, and I'm going to help eradicate it.

I don't feel threatened by Christianity, just disgusted by the Catholic Church (though it's gotten much better since this latest Pope) and humiliated by the ignorance that seems to accompany hard-core devotees. I'm personally fine with religion, I actually was raised Catholic, it's just that I feel everyone should take a more agnostic attitude. If you're atheist you shouldn't feel obligated to convince the world to see things as you do, and if you're religious you shouldn't keep trying to shove your beliefs down everyone else's throats.
