The issue is that thorn is the best pvp weapon in the game.
50% or more players in pvp use thorn and a shotgun.
The last word can go head to head up close and the hopscotch can take a thorn at range, but thorn is overall more useful and more powerful.
And as someone who has gone flawless, I like to use my emblem, but I don't want to be sitting at the bottom/middle of the leaderboard with it.
I prefer to use the hopscotch pilgrim, but if things start going bad and I'm fighting a team of 6 thorns/last words (which happens) Then I'll switch.

unfortunately a flawless emblem is no longer an achievement, was something during the first week, but now every tom, dick and harry with 0.5 KDs have the emblem.. :(

In week 1 people were using auto rifles and hunger of Crota with 300 attack weapons and most teams were level 32. NOW It's all try Hards who want to go to the lighthouse at all costs. 90% of games are against 3 man teams of all thorns/TLW with felwinter archetype shotguns with perfect rolls or hidden hand/final round snipers. I send flawless last week and every round was 4-5 dig fights that made me pull out every stop in the book. This week I have got to 8 wins but I'll hit a try hard or organised clan and then it's over. Plus I like the colour yellow. Even though I have 3 flawless emblems I use yellow emblems on all my guardians. I also like the Osiris lore.

I suppose. I just keep getting to 7-0 then I get two amazing teams back to back.
