Honestly? How in the hell do people snipe in this game?
Every time I attempt to snipe I do horrible. There is just too much happening to snipe. Blink shotgun. Having to always hit a headshot. I just flat out suck at it.
But every now and then I run into godly snipers who just headshot me from close range and they just never miss. What am I doing wrong??? Others make it look easy and I'm just here stuck with a shotgun because I'm a horrible sniper
I've been slacking on this post, haven't been replying that much :P
So I've heard a little bit about me being used to sniping in cod? Not at all. I never sniped in cod. I rushed with smgs and assault rifles. In fact I haven't played it heavy since around September when destiny dropped and AW dropped a little bit later on. That game finished cods reign off as top dog for me. And black ops 3 multiplayer reveal was the icing on the cake for me to quit cod for good. I just think it'd be cool to learn to snipe in this game. Seems like it take a good amount of skill to be good at it. Usually respect snipers who can consistently headshot me.
And for those who say "get gud" lol check me out on destiny tracker. I have plenty of crucible experience I just never was a good sniper.
So I'd say that this post isn't too much about me anymore because I've gotten the advice I needed already. Help others on this post now! Thanks for all the help from everyone who replied.

Practice

I would say practice in pve first, like in patrol or something. Challenge yourself to try and hit moving targets, or enemies at different angles, etc. If you want a good sniper to help you out, I recommend Patience and Time. It has minimal recoil and an awesome rate of fire (for a sniper, anyway), while also having decent impact. I don't know what the aim assist stat is like, though. Honestly, I've never found any kind of sniper to be more difficult to use than any other, but some are definitely more fun. Icebreaker and P&T, for example, have great sound effects, and Icebreaker has the added bonus of exploding enemies you headshot.

It depends on the sniper, plus some aren't natural snipers. Like me, no denying that.

Destiny is actually one of the easier games to snipe in IMO. Just keep practicing man, it'll eventually get easier

1 ReplyJust force yourself to practice, I was a pretty solid sniper in COD and Halo, but I really struggled with the sniping in this game too. use them in iron banner and trials of osiris as much as possible and you will get better. also try get a sniper that has good target aquisition and a high fire rate to start with, with high stability. this way, if u do miss the head, ur follow up will still get u the kill. also on your first shot, make sure you're going for headshot, only way snipers work well in this game is to headshot. next, learn the maps and sightlines. knowledge will get u more kills instantly. for starters on high fire rate/stability, try, Praedyths revenge, the chosen, prudence II, Supremacy or her benevolence imo

I recently started sniping and think it s a lot based on map knowledge and anticipation of others move, you have to keep your distances and stay alert. I started with patience and time, the active radar helps a lot!

1 ReplyI started sniping two months ago. It's a hard rode to get good, but practise will make you better. Don't get me wrong, I'm still not good with it, but running No Land Beyond and my Spear helps a a lot. Also try to use Ice Breaker, It's a great sniper to play with and you will always have enough ammo. Oh yeah and check out this guy called "True Vanguard" on youtube, he has a great sniper tutorial series.

Go to Patrol Cosmodrome. Take some different snipers with you. Praedeath's Revenge, LDR/Efrideet's, Low Grade Humility, etc. Go to the top of that building in the Steeps that spawns the dregs and Vandals. Take a lot of special synths with you. Try each gun out, see which one you like. Just sit there and snipe for a while. Try going for the fallen coming from the drop ship, good moving targets. If you are lucky Warsat will drop. Just do that for a while and you will get used to the feel of sniping. Just practice from there. This is coming from experience as I used to suck at sniping. Now I am pretty good.

I find the easist way to snipe is to git gud [spoiler] but seriously if you cant land headshots than go for a quick firing sniper that 2 hit kills people[/spoiler]

Most of the time the snipers are already aiming down the sight. You just kinda have to aim where you think the head will pop up (height) so when they appear in your scope you just pull the trigger

I would consider myself a really good sniper. I watched a ton of KJhoveys sniping videos and modeled my game after his.

Watch true vanguards vids, that's where I started sniping

Watch Tfue, Krafty, and some other good streams and you'll learn the quick scope spots and where to NOT snipe, which is the better way to look at this. Then, learn the different sniper and class configurations. Sure, Titans can snipe but the advantage with Hunters in the quick swap and move while ADS, etc... Third, just keep at it. I used to suck sniping but once you get a hang of it and show confidence you'll get it.

If you have it, try using the P&T. If you miss headshot and hit the body you can easily fire another body shot because it has next to no recoil.

If I snipe, I use a close range primary. Last word works well. Just keep your distance, hold the choke points.

Aim assist fck everything up dude u be aiming at someone gonna shoot em square in the face then some guy runs by and drags ur gun along with it causing u to shoot like 4 feet to the left of his face and make u wanna grab that gun go squat in a puddle and.....
