Every time I attempt to snipe I do horrible. There is just too much happening to snipe. Blink shotgun. Having to always hit a headshot. I just flat out suck at it.
But every now and then I run into godly snipers who just headshot me from close range and they just never miss. What am I doing wrong??? Others make it look easy and I'm just here stuck with a shotgun because I'm a horrible sniper
I've been slacking on this post, haven't been replying that much :P
So I've heard a little bit about me being used to sniping in cod? Not at all. I never sniped in cod. I rushed with smgs and assault rifles. In fact I haven't played it heavy since around September when destiny dropped and AW dropped a little bit later on. That game finished cods reign off as top dog for me. And black ops 3 multiplayer reveal was the icing on the cake for me to quit cod for good. I just think it'd be cool to learn to snipe in this game. Seems like it take a good amount of skill to be good at it. Usually respect snipers who can consistently headshot me.
And for those who say "get gud" lol check me out on destiny tracker. I have plenty of crucible experience I just never was a good sniper.
So I'd say that this post isn't too much about me anymore because I've gotten the advice I needed already. Help others on this post now! Thanks for all the help from everyone who replied.

Hardscope at first. Ever played CS:GO? Learn good crosshair placement. Sprint around the map with the sniper and use the chevron crosshair to gauge where you will aim when you zoom in for fast less hard scopey shots. Start with a sniper rifle like her benev or shadow of veils with high aim assist then move down.

Aim and shoot, its not that hard
-
Normally I just shoot them in the head
-
Use both sticks. I usually walk into my shots, and make minor adjustments with the right stick. Think big strokes on the left, and tiny strokes on the right to paint a truly unique and bloody canvas :)

Well you definitely have to hit your shots. Pull that trigger though hesitation or trying to line up the perfect shot can cost you. Miss a headshot but score a body shot quickly hit the triangle and finish them off with your primary. Also let your team mates help (clean em up) after your mates damage them headshot no longer needed. Try watching good snipers on twitch like triple wreck. You will see he is quick to pull the trigger, there is aim assist but hard to get a feel for it. Practice sniping more in PVE. Learn to snipe by sliding left or right from behind cover. Aim down sights and slide out from your cover PULL TRIGGER as soon as enemy is in your scope. Again trust it don't hesitate by aiming to long while ADS. as soon as the dot is passing over enemy pull the trigger.

Combined arms milt son. And use ice breaker. Try not to camp. Kill the campers. Once you get good enough, go to regular crucible.

Gaurentee that your sniping skills will increase when you use a sniper with decent impact and with good target aquisition. I say decent impact because you want to be able to res snipe in trials (P.Revenge or Eye of Sol can't do that). Shadow of veils has good aim assist but I'm not a fan of its other perks. Each sniper has a different aim assist rating and so does each scope. A lot of people use ambush scope for the stability but not many people know that it takes away aim assist (-15). Eff Spear also has low aim assist base stat. I personally use Her Benevolence with Shortgaze SL10 scope, Hidden hand, snapshot, and performance bonus. Her Benevolence has a good base aim assist rating, Shortgaze SL10 adds aim assist and it's still a low zoom scope, hidden hand adds target acquisition, and Snapshot allows me to quick scope people easier (although Quickdraw would be better). The final perk isn't really important. Some people think unflinching is nice to have but I honestly don't see a difference using it. I have performance bonus as my last perk because it's nice to have extra rounds every now and then while running trials. Edit: forgot to add this... people will tell you that low sensitivity helps with sniping... I personally disagree. I run with 10 sensitivity and it allows me to snap the scope where I need it if I see someone running in the corner of my eye. So it's honestly a matter of preference.

1 ReplyMaybe the sight you're using are not good for the small maps, try the short gaze and ambush sights. Look out for the best stability plus hidden hand perk.

I could give you some tips, but even I suck.

Practice a LOT Also figure out the best sensitivity for you I played at 7 since beta and just recently moved it down to a 4 and my snipes have been much more accurate since then

6 RepliesUse a high rof sniper if you don't have the best shot. Two body shots and they're dead. That's the best wayvto go when you're starting out, once you get better move onto the high impact snipers.

1 ReplyEdited by WhiteSun: 8/18/2015 12:02:05 AMIf you want to snipe here are a few tips . Control settings ; You will need to learn to hit precision shots at a higher sensitivity . So if you play at at 3-4 then you will need to slowly accustom yourself to the higher levels , it will take time but if you find yourself hitting head shots at pve enemies at 5 easily ? Move to 6 and so on every week till the point that you can handle 10 and trust me 10 is not as bad as other games . Territory and game modes Once you learn to hit those head shots its time to move to the pvp aspect , play control to start with and when combine arms is on , play that . I don't recommend clash nor rumble for rookie snipers, it's more chaotic and everyone will be running last word or thorn , not to mention the maps are more compact , the maps you want to practice are shores of times, twilight gap ,first light , bastion , pantheon , and sky shock . Weapons : Ice Breaker : this will be your starting sniper , it has a high aim assist and the replenish-able ammo makes it easier to use , since you don't need to worry about ammo , and can learn about the ins and outs of guardian movement Praedyth's revenge : a fully upgraded Praedyth's will kill a guardian with 2 body shots , it also has one of the fastest rate of fires , this will be your intermediate/final sniper and for most it will be the only one you will need . Notable mentions Efrideet's/ Any sniper with final round : this types of snipers are look down upon , because of the fact that the final round will kill a guardian with a body shot , so If you don't care about what other guardians think of you. You are welcome to use it , Warning : relying too much on final round or body shots might affect your sniping skills to the point where you will find it harder to do head shots . Having said all of this : the best tip I can give you is to work , work and work some more , nothing will ever beat experience , and don't feel bad for losing against other snipers , even if you die many times to the same sniper always try , don't worry about your k/d your goal is to get better , and with time and effort you will be .

4 Replieslol yeah I suck at sniping...usually it involves me taking WAY too long to aim and then ending up getting a body shot or miss as they run away lol
