I honestly believe it's a bad thing to sell ghorn. Thankfully there's only a few weeks before TTK. Truth be told, I would be more thrilled if they just removed the weapon from the game all together. The last handful of months have made one thing painfully apparent, nobody knows how to do raids, nightfalls, and strikes without "cheeses" or the ghorn. Obviously I don't mean NOBODY, but I'm sure my point is understood.
The whole "need ghorn" as part of the criteria to join a group is ridiculous. Do I use it sure; however, it has never been a requirement. If I'm running with friends or destinylfg.com and people don't have it...oh well, not a big deal. I purposefully avoid groups requiring ghorn. To me that just relays the perception of compensate with a weapon because the skill or knowledge is lacking. This concept may not always be the motive of these ghorn groups, but let's be honest here. A "speed run" can't equate for a majority of them, let alone all of them.
There have been times where I wanted to help others accomplish something specific like say the nightfall. I list my guardian on destinylfg.com and explicitly state "no weapon or class requirements" and "no level 32 and above". The ghorn phenomenon is so ingrained in our destiny culture that people still message with something like "31 titan I have gally". I have actually asked people not to use it before if for no other reason than to show them there is no real NEED, and it is not necessarily faster.
Let's look at the archon priest nightfall as an example. 3 ppl with ghorn or 3 ppl with patience and time....hmmmm. I can tell you which one is not faster *cough* *cough* *ghorn*.
In any case, perhaps we should stop perpetuating ghorn as the end all be all weapon. Maybe show that there are other, sometimes even better or more efficient, options out there.
Edit: Paragraphs added because apparently it's quite important when bs'ing in a post on these forums. Thank you Crowley for your wonderful insight ;)

1 ReplyI don't give a damn I had 12 Gjallarhorn only kept 3 still have 1 in the postmaster This day forward I declare no noob left behind act(NNLB)

2 RepliesSo you are saying we need to waste 10 mins to stubid old strike boss?
-
3 RepliesWhy should people go thousands of hours and still not get their hands on it just because RNG is shit? I've seen plenty of people that can do raids, nightfalls, strikes without cheesing or Gjallarhorn Me and my team don't even touch Gjallarhorn when we do VoG. As for Crota, hell I can solo it without Gjallarhorn, even then when me and my team do it, we've got maybe one guy using Gjallarhorn PoE is basically the same, personally I'd rather run Icebreaker than Gjallarhorn. I'll agree that needing a Gjallarhorn is stupid, personally I've never stopped anyone from joining my group, Gjallarhorn or not, you're fine with me. As for removing it from the game? Just plain stupid.

I actually wouldn't mind if they did...

1 ReplyThey probably are effectively "removing" it from the game. Bungie knows if they don't nerf the damage output enough, ghorn will still be a requirement. The nerf will probably be massive. I doubt it will be a 10% nerf.

3 RepliesOld news is old

They obviously put it up for sale so everybody could try it in its full glory.

1 ReplyNo everyone deserves a ghjallahorn they've all worked for it for months the new players in the taken king won't have see it is mostly a year one thing everyone in year one has be happy now you can finish Croat faster
-
10 RepliesThis week's nightfall patience and time vs ghorn? It's small arms so both are weakened so wouldn't that make ghorn a faster kill?
-
3 RepliesI agree. I have played this game since day 1 and haven't received a ghorn. Yes I bought it from Xur because I wanted to feel it's power b4 TTK. However having played the game without ever using it I can see how corrupt it has made people. The ghorn is do or die for most on the game. Is it nice to have something to get u out of a sticky situation... yes but when it is used to breeze past bosses no. TTK will prove how much ppl have relied on this gun
-
1 ReplyLol you just figured that out the last few months?!?! But seriously there's isn't a rocket launcher that's better or more effective at clearing out masses of enemies or taking down bosses quicker. Who cares! If it bothers you so bad then just don't use it, be the only guy on lfg that's looking for people without ghally! Problem solved.
-
i only use ghorn for poe and crota really, everything else i use ash factory or machine gun, ghorn is really only good for zeroing in on a boss.

2 RepliesI agree about the cheeses, and it's ridicules that people are requiring that people have ghorn in order to join fire teams. But even if they remove ghorn, people will find another "God weapon" and require that for fire teams. And removing the weapon isn't the right course of action. But hopefully with the nerd coming soon will help this issue. And now that xur has sold it. Maybe more people will have it and be able to access the fire teams. Hopefully...

1 ReplyThat's a false statement. I've tons tons of each of those with "legit" players and no ghorn.

8 RepliesMore moaning..... yawn

3 RepliesJust be patient and time will come when TTK is released. You'll not have to worry about the ghorn then ad there's always something better out there like the sleeper stimulant that's not a random drop.
