Go back and read again. Year one [u]legendaries[/u] won't ascend to max damage/defense but exotics will. You might want to stop now, it's still early and you don't want to use up all your wrong right away.

Actually neither of us are correct as nobody has stated anything about exotics being either way.

It has been stated that legendaries won't be able to upgrade, but exotics would. I believe it was in the response where they told us not to dismantle anything. Edit: still looking for where it was stated, might of been in an interview. will look more later got more important things to do now.
