I can answer the top one before the BWU. Matchmaking for Endgame activities in the Taken King will work the same way as in the past. You will need to form your own Raid party to venture into King's Fall. Since I started as Community Manager the feedback to add optional matchmaking for end game or a LFG system integrated into the game has been constantly at the top of the forum. Thanks for sending a clear request from the community. I will take your feedback to the designers, but for now you will need to build your own Raiding parties. You have some time to plan ahead - go find a clan or make some friends on an LFG site. You will need a solid crew to tackle the biggest Raid we have ever created.
-Cozmo
For those who haven't seen, Cozmo confirmed today that there will be no matchmaking in TTK. I've stated before and will say once more, I do not understand a philosophy in which Bungie would rather people not play their game than be able to group with other players who don't mind grouping with randoms in-game. By all accounts, the Vault of Glass was the pinnacle of year one content and I'm curious exactly what % of the player base actually ended up completing it.
All that said, now that we know there will be no changes to endgame as far as matchmaking or any kind of in-game LFG, It's time to try to make sure that this is something that is being actively looked at and worked on going forward. To that end I would like this thread to be specifically be a sounding board for ideas to not only integrate matchmaking and LFG functionality into future releases, but to hear what people in clans would like to see implemented in-game to make the clan experience more fleshed out and interactive with the game world.
This is not a thread to debate whether or not OMM/LFG/full clan support should be in the game or not, so if you're here to argue against them, wrong thread. It's also not a thread to rip on Cozmo for breaking this news. This is again to centralize ideas for the developers to be able to hear our ideas on how to make this work and what we'd like to see in future versions of the game.
Thank you.
Here are some threads by myself and others that have already garnered support with ideas on how we think OMM/LFG/Clans can work, If anyone have more please link them to me and I will add to the list.

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/146385459/0/0/1 @SHADA_ST, OMM and clan support applications
Again, while it is extremely disappointing to a lot of us to get this news today (and there are already people who have stated they will no longer play the game now), it is important to not let this go, but to pursue it with even more determination until Bungie realize that this is something that is a benefit not only to their community, but their bottom line as well.
I hated most of HoW because it was just such a pain in the ass to play any meaningful content. The completely revamped game looks like it is going to give the game stronger legs under it going forward, but it will be a shame if people don't see the TTK raid in droves like the previous raids.
Thank you and again, please check out the above links and like, bump and support those you think would work for you and chime in the comments below as well.

3 RepliesThat's.... really disheartening. I am waiting to purchase post release for reviews of what exactly is happening with Destiny, no speculation. Heaven knows that Bungie's marketing team has no idea... Tbh I was really hoping that OMM was part of the Twitch Surprise/Secret reveal. Considering that it's been such a HUGE topic for almost the whole year I'm kind of blown away it's still not happening. Kudos to Cozmo though for relaying such crappy news without a single condescending tone or line-crossing sarcasm!!!! +1 for Mr. Kramer (that's his last name right?)

1 ReplyKeep fighting for match making Sols, bump.

7 RepliesTranslation from Bungie...play the game how we want you to play it. Wow, just simply disappointed
-
2 RepliesCool, another raid I'll never do. So tired of the elitist crap. Make the game accessible to all. It's so frustrating to see something with such potential not reach it. This could be one of the greatest games ever with just a handful of things added.

1 ReplyBump bump for love and peace and watching Bungie staff commit seppuku

1 ReplyMatchmaking was a prerequisite for me to buy TTK. Not happening, not buying. That is the best signal one can give. I am moving on to games that akllow me to enjoy ALL content without leaving the game for an external LFG site. I am around until November, playing year one content, after that it is Fallout 4

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 8/30/2015 4:28:23 PMI think an in game LFG is a reasonable compromise. Or even a host lobby search option. A group waits in orbit under a public setting and other players looking for a group can do a search of lobbies and search by activity type. Allow the host to enable a level restriction and maybe some other minor options as well. It would streamline the process and possibly make it easier to find the type of player you are looking for. The % of people who have completed raids is pretty sad IMO. The % of people who have completed them on hard or even just multiple times in general regardless of difficulty has to be worse. I've never seen a developer so intent on making it seemingly as difficult as possible to access content in a game. Especially content that offers the best gear. It still to this day blows my mind that the only way to find people for the best the game has to offer is to not play the game and use an app or a fan made site dedicated to it. Sites which exist mainly out of necessity. Also, the 32 and 34 not having actual matchmaking is more or less ridiculous. Not adding it with TTK when people can be far above the level of the activity is even worse.
-
Bump I think they should either add in-game LFG social area or optional matchmaking
-
1 ReplyAt the minimum, there needs to be some form of chat board or place to look for people wanting to do an activity like Nightfall, PoE, etc. IN THE GAME. I really do not undertsand Bungie's "philosophy" on this. Tha lack of anything in the game at all "excludes" players from content. For wanting to be a social game, the current philosphy is that of exclusion.

6 months ago I would've agreed with you. I've recently checkpointed through the raid not completed yet, and I understand why there's no optional MM, because it just wouldn't work. Everything else I support optional matchmaking for but not the raid. I don't have time to go through the threads you've linked so apologies if there's a better system idea that could be implemented. I agree though optional MM for everything else including night falls etc and even court of oryx - what a design flaw that was , good concept but noones ever around on patrol doing it half the time

1 ReplyFirst, I will NOT be buying TTK because of this. After the original launch and two expansions I'm done using third party websites to reach endgame content. Second, they could do something as simple as a tag next to your name so people in the tower, out in the field, etc know what you're looking to do and can send you an invite: YOUR NAME (LFG) - general group(anything) (LFR) - Looking For Raid (LFN) - Looking For Nightfall (LFC) - Looking For Crucible Not the solution I want but at least it would be something!

1 ReplySols keep fighting brother, I have given up completely on this game and Bungie. It's a complete and utter joke. They can keep that philosophy and shove it. Best of luck to everyone who is sticking this out.

1 ReplyNot buying the taken king till matchmaking happens if it doesn't ever happen I'm never getting the next destiny titles
-
How many different ways can you ask for matchmaking? Haha

5 RepliesEdited by ReSpectAll44: 8/15/2015 5:32:23 PMThe option does hold some water and yes it wouldn't to add it but the raid centers around knowing and trusting your allies and friends, working together, for those who for some reason cannot find these kind of allies or don't have relationships with people it would be something for them. However this article seems to make it sound like the majority of the community wants this to happen, not so. From my experience with the weekly matchmaking the majority of players who do that are not quite outfitted or prepared for the task (aka noobs) or they just spin their controllers in circles while they get off and do other things while the other pick up the slack, imagine some of these components in a raid, and not just any raid, this raid will be the almighty quest and challenge of the game, I would prefer to have some people I could trust and communicate with. I just don't think it would be a very liked feature, and if someone is that desperate for some allies and many people are, the LFG site has plenty of available players. I understand the concern but I just don't think matchmaking for this raid is needed Edit: however I do agree with adding more interacting with clans in game, very needed feature 👍
-
15 RepliesNot everyone wants matchmaking. Quit making it seem like every player does. 95% of the time I use the weekly matchmaking I end up with people using either non fully leveled weapons, weapons that are not even 300 or whose weapons don't match the burn that week and when I say something they claim it doesn't matter when a weapon with the correct burn does a lot more damage than one without.

5 RepliesEdited by Powermix24: 8/16/2015 4:10:59 AMI like Raids with no MM . Raids can't Have MM . ever since they put MM into Heroic Strikes , I been afked on people quit after they get their bounty done, intentionally dieing over & over . and list goes on . if that happens in a raid then you would waste an hour just to launch a decent match that's if all players are communicating . why do that when you can arrange a group with websites like destinytracker , Destiny lfg .com & .net . the forums . etc .

Edited by gallp13: 8/15/2015 8:36:09 AMI use 100.io for raids Destinylfg for the rest Both are well designed and function effectively. However both would work even better in game.
