Warlock, Hunter, Titan
The three classes make up the three different archetypes of the game, each contributing different play-styles, load outs, and exotics, to suit one's preferences and allow them to play as they wish.
But why are we limited to creating only one of each class, or two/three duplicates and one/zero of the other choices?
WoW gives you a total of 50 characters, over 10 servers, SWTOR gives you 12-22 per server, and many more all give you more choices and slots than Destiny.
Destiny gives you three slots. Not three per server, not three with an option to earn more, just three. Besides the number of classes, there seems to be no reason behind this arbitrary number, far inferior to virtually every other MMO.
But now, with TTK rapidly approaching and the inclusion of an actual story mode, many players are professing their intentions to want to go back and rediscover the story and the content added. However, they don't want to delete one of their characters, that they spent months leveling up and getting all the necessary gear for each respective subclass.
So, as necessity dictates, Bungie, would you please reconsider your decision to only limit is to a maximum of three characters, and give us a fourth slot to truly allow us to re-engage ourselves in Destiny's newfound story?
Edit: Everyone's been making good points about a fourth character adding thirty more slots for primary/special/heavy weapons. I didn't think about that when I made the thread.

While it doesn't change the fact that it is doable, I have a feeling they are looking to prevent exotic farming.

Bungie gone read this bs and chop each subclass into 6 characters then yall really gone be mad. Better quit crying. Cause that self res gone be real far away in the future if you keep this up.

Nothing's stopping you from experiencing the "story" again. Just replay all the missions. Albeit the only you won't have access to is the tutorial level. But, my question to everyone is, with all the negative feedback vanilla's story has gotten, why would you even want to replay it. Boggles my mind, really. So, I disagree with having a fourth slot. Don't think it's needed, honestly.

No need for a fourth

1 ReplyYou just want to loot the game more than 3 times. Nice try. You don't need a fourth a slot. If you want to rediscover the story. Rediscover it. You don't need a new character to do that.

1 ReplyIf they ever introduce a fourth class, then open a fourth slot. Until then it's fine how it is.

2 RepliesBungie Destiny shield has 4 parts to the crest (each part is a class logo) so whats the 4th part for?

1 ReplyBump, I want to replay the whole story with all the changes that TTK will introduce, but refuse to delete one of my characters to do so. Plus this would free up more inventory for lack of vault space!

5 RepliesPlease answer this if you can Cozmo. If a fourth character isn't possible right now, at the very least there should be a way for us to re-level a character without losing all our reputations and overall stats. It could be a one time thing like the character boost new players get.

Edited by Kone19ps: 8/18/2015 4:13:32 PMThere isn't enough vault space for 3. That character would just become an extra vault for whatever subclass I have the most for. I don't think they would add that much just to help us reduce grind unfortunately

Yeah cause using the same 3 classes for 10 years sounds a little boring!

1 ReplyEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 8/15/2015 2:10:01 PMThe only reason I would want a 4th character would be to repeatedly run through until the PoE is unlocked to get to that guaranteed exotic opportunity for chances at any exotic weapons I'm missing. Other than that I don't feel the need for another character slot. The creation process and character choices like race and gender don't affect anything.

1 ReplyEdited by Crooked Paradox: 8/15/2015 11:00:09 PMI believe the reason they limited it at 3 characters is to give people the opportunity to have all 3 classes without having so many characters that we can abuse the RNG system. The biggest reason to have RNG is so that people are forced to play more and, if we have more characters, we have more chances to finish collecting earlier and hence less reasons to continue playing until the next update. Basically, they want us to continue playing the game as much as possible without preventing us from experiencing all of the content.

1 ReplyFirst of all this isn't wow. Also not an MMO, so get over that part. Other than that it's because they don't want you running more than 3 Nightfalls, raids etc. if they allowed that then guess what, drop rates would go down for rng
