Though it looks different cosmetically apparently it's not a different type of armour. He still wearing the same armour from Halo 3 (MKVI) in Halo 4.
When Chief was in stasis aboard the Forward Unto Dawn, nano-bots repaired his armour under Cortana's direction which altered its appearance.
This makes sense but what do you think and did you like it in Halo 3 or Halo 4 more? (it's the same armour I mean aesthetically).

3 RepliesEdited by CarelessRook117: 8/11/2015 9:55:40 PMI liked the way Chief looked in Halo 4. It certainly isn't as Iconic as his Halo 3 gear, but it made him feel bigger and more lethal. The "Wings" on the back helped to give him a top-heavy sillhouette and make him look imposing by having something stick over his shoulders. It also addressed my main issue with the Halo 3 armour: The articulation points wouldn't realistically give Chief a big enough range of movement for his limbs. I will however say that the Halo 4 armour had a bit too much undersuit visible; something they fixed with the toning in Halo 5.
