How is me using year one gear hurting anything?

If I happen to like FB more than any new HC in year two what's it hurting? Literally nothing. There is 0 downside to letting us keep our gear.

    • Hey, just keep using your guns. It'll be like playing on the hard difficulty. You'd be hardcore.

        • It's because they aren't creative enough to make new and unique guns that people would want to use so they make the old guns obsolete so they can make new guns that LITERALLY probably have almost identical traits to the year one weapons (ex-a new weapon with a DoT kinda trait)

        • Look at it from a game designer point of view. There are many weapon designers who were hired to create a bunch of brand new guns. If everyone stays with Fatebringer then what is the point in going through all that trouble making all those guns? And I know you love Fatebringer. I do too. But can you honestly tell me that you will really, REALLY be using it for the entire life span of Destiny? It doesn't matter how good a gun is, even you will get bored of using it. It's just Human nature. More guns equals more options. And that means more ways to have fun with the game. Trust me. Year one guns not being as efficient is a good thing.

          • It hurts nothing, but Bungie uses their fanboys to beat you over the head about it to cloud the water of this topic. If I find a weapon I like I'll use, case in point, Lord of wolves. I love this gun so much it's relegated gjallarhorn to the back burner. The system for ascension is already in place, so why make it useless 4 months after it's implemented? Oh that's right, it was just a selling point for people who were smart enough to not buy the season pass. You're not wrong to feel this way no matter what these apologists, fanboys and sycophants say.

            • It's because Bungie -blam!-ed up the game. They did a piss poor job of designing the game and created too many over powered weapons and or poorly designed strikes and raids. The game is being scraped and started over. Thanks for your $$$ contributions.

Its hurting bungie, they want total control over how much damage you do and, more importantly, how long they take to upgrade. Ice breaker wasn't hurting anybody and the only ones calling for a gjallarhorn nerf were crota and skolas and the bullet-sponge crew from POE. New weapons are going to upgrade in a this-or-that manner, range OR impact, accuracy OR rate of fire. Not the do-it-all weapons we have now. This WILL allow for some strategy and might be fun. But it still SUCKS to lose our favorite weapons. I busted my hump doing raids so that each of my characters had a Fatebringer, VOC, word of crota, fang of ir yut etc, etc.

              • So you want to use the same handcannon for all of destiny, forever. This one weapon you happened to get, just -blam!- every other weapon because this one is the only HC you will ever use, or the only primary you will ever use. As time goes on we will find stronger foes to kill and we need new, more powerful weapons. But you want to cry over your fatebringer that you earned a year ago

                • So keep it. Use it if you like. Bungie never said "you must dismantle or die!" Throughout Gamescom they repeated you don't have to dismantle shot. Just won't be great for the Tsken King. Useful still for Vault of Glass and most patrols.

                  • My point exactly. Did it ever cross their head that maybe we keep the old due to lack of vault space, and just the newer guns being complete crap.

                  • This is what I believe they will do. They will wait until people dismantle their legendary guns they kept for long. And a update will roll out saying we heard you and we are listening you can finally upgrade year one guns. So the people that are retards who dismantled their guns are screwed but us smart ones will just point and laugh. That's what I think Bungie will do.

                  • I think it's because they want us to have a variety. They are afraid that the year two weapons will still be weaker than the weapons we have now. They want to prove that they can make better weapons to replace the ones we all love. I'm fine with moving on, but I hate the method on their making us move on.

Then you aren't grinding for stuff. You're hurting their numbers by keeping your fatebringer.

The elitist pricks and a few youtubers in this community think that Fatebringer is too overpowered and lets us steamroll through content and think that making marshmallow weapons is a form of making the game more "challenging". The same goes for Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn. Instead of making boss fights more team work oriented, movement oriented, mechanic oriented, Bungie in their enormous wisdom make boring as hell bullet sponge bosses and then they wonder why people Gjallarhorn their way through bosses. Nobody wants to fight Valus Ta'aurc like it's some sort of super challenging boss… it's not - it's just a dumb as crap bullet sponge boss with a crap ton of adds. If you make boring bullet sponge bosses, people WILL find quickest way to burn them down. Instead of addressing the real problem, these you tubers and "community representatives" are destroying the game by supporting Bungie's movie to make crap weapons that nobody gives a crap about. Yeah "shank burn" woooooo!!! Can't wait to use that over my Fatebringer!!! Yipeeee!!! Here is an idea: Make an AGILE boss that ONLY takes critical hit damage and you can only do so much damage before you need to do a team oriented task, complete an objective, unplug a power core or some crap with reasonable number of adds. Gjallarhorn would be absolutely worthless in such a fight. In other words -- design intelligent and engaging boss fights. Don't nerf PvE weapons to mediocre crap.

                    • It's hurting bungie because if you have no desire to attain new gear then you'll figure out how little content there is an foil their evil plan.

                    • It is hurting nothing. It is simply a way for Bungie to force players to grind out yet more hours on their servers ... nothing more.

                      • Pvp balance is something to consider. Although your guns will still be just as viable in standard crucible.

They don't want to allow you to make them more powerful cause they don't want to add guns that ARE more powerful than those, why? Because........ They want you to slowly, painfully, boringly make your way through the game. Sure, they could make weapons more powerful than the Ghorn, Fate, hammer, icebreaker but that would allow you to go through the content way too fast for their liking and THIS is the sin of all sins at Bungie. Where would we be is we didn't have to tediously grind for mediocre gear. More powerful weapons might actually make the game more fun and we can't have that... We need addicted hamsters here at bungie, where your time means more to us, than it does to you.

                        • It doesn't. There's no logical reason to not empower players with the option to bring their year 1 stuff with them. If the only holdup is a few Vault of Glass weapons, tone them down a bit, and fix the flaws in the game's design that make those weapons so ultimately desirable over everything else. The latter benefits the game in the long run. By locking out our year 1 gear, they're just ignoring very real problems, and they're introducing new ones, the worst of which is making us question, "if after a year of playing this game, all of my achievements are irrelevant, why should I even bother with year 2 and beyond?"

It hurts Bungies feelings that you wont use their new guns and Deej can't sleep at night so we have to use the new crap they throw at us

                        • downside is if they want to realise good dlc's they have to top the previous dlc weapons so its more appealing to get. It would ve really hard to top certain weapons thus making shit get really op

                        • I doesn't hurt anyone! Bungie tends to forget that there players out there that don't give a shit about PvP and want their old gear for PvE. I have traded my game and I canceled my TTK pre-order. State of Decay is phenomenal and Fallout 4 will make me completely forget about this half assed game!
