Can't decide which
Both arc
Both surplus
However: jolder's has field scout with 50 mag and btrd has 46
Jolder's and btrd have about the same ammo however btrd has 160 and something while jolder's 153
Jolder's has slightly more impact as btrd
Btrd has 2x more ROF than slightly more impact jolder's has
Btrd has 2x stability as jolder's however isn't that useful since it is a low RoF machinegun
Btrd has a little bit more range
Btrd has feeding frenzy on pre-how weapons feeding frenzy is the main perk
I have skip rounds available on btrd so more impact and ammo
Jolder's has faster reload by a fair bit
Also does casket mag increase total reserve?

Only reason I voted for BTRD is because I don't have a jolder's hammer. Very informative post though

I have btrd and i swear by it, but it fits all of my needs. In your case i suggest you run vog and defend left construct with both weapons and see what fits your needs best.

1 ReplyEdited by Bye Felicia: 8/13/2015 10:22:16 PMIn pvp Jolder's has a lower ttk so I'm assuming you mean for pve use. If neither/both have aggressive then go with Jolder's. It has +8 impact yet the same amount of rounds. It might seem small but it makes a huge difference on a machine gun. You literally get 25.4% more damage output potential from Jolder's 153 rounds versus BTRD's 160. A fact I never see anyone mention in these "Best Machine Gun" threads. If you only have aggressive ballistics on BTRD and you use it with skip rounds then it's all preference really. The damage output is still lower on BTRD but the stability might make up for it. Neither is better than the other in that case, go with whichever feels more comfortable. Skip rounds slow you down even more than a heavy weapon already does so it not worth it imo though.
edit: btw I'm not being biased in the slightest. If burn isn't an issue then my go to MG for pve is an MG18A Harm's Way. You can't beat 100 rounds in the mag and 301 reserves for only a 1% difference in Jolder's damage output XD
3 RepliesPeople who voted BTRD don't have a pre-HoW Jolder's Hammer.
-
BTRD-345 Arc Smart Drift Control Counterbalance High Caliber Rounds Persistence Max stability+Counterbalance makes this -blam!-er a laser beam. It's a crit magnet on high-tier enemies in PvE. It's Arc because that's the most common enemy shield type and a very common burn mod. I've also got plenty of other combos for more range at the cost of some stability, which is probably smarter for PvP. Right now it's equipped with Aggressive Ballistics and High Caliber Rounds for more Range at the cost of some Stability.

I use harms way cause of 100 mag and good rof/stability balance
-
Depends, if Jolder's hammer is pre HoW it's better, if not then BTRD is better

22 RepliesEdited by PARIAHS DEAD: 8/13/2015 3:33:55 PM53% says btrd for a reason I agree its better jolders has more impact but not by that much while Btrd spits more rounds quicker I have both n use both n iron banner week my titan n hunter get the machine gun sprees n ten kills within the first or second match where as it takes me a few on my warlock that's how I finally decided that for myself I think btrd is tops in my book......love jolders too tho

BTRD is useable unperked. Not so much a Jolders's. It's like you're driven to use field scout.

2 RepliesWhat about the Swarm? One of the best machine guns in Vanilla. The best in my opinion.
-
Deviant Gravity all the way. Vanilla Dead Orbit Machine Gun with Arc Damage. I can't remember the perks it had but it would shred through anything in Nightfall with Arc Burn and it was very precise and had a high impact. It killed in PvP as well.

1 ReplyIf it's pre-HoW Jolders with Field Scout/Surplus then you tend to get around 120-130 bullets per heavy ammo pack. Anyone who says BTRD is better is either stupid or biased.
-
Againts all odds in my opinion is the best pve and pvp LMG in Destiny☺

2 RepliesThe culling.....105 round mag....But with those two id pick the jolders....impact matters greatly...

I tried both with similar perks but still favor my jolders
