It's not an insult..
If you have a lot of knowledge of something, example: if you know where everything is in Destiny, that makes you a nerd.
I embrace it with pride. I'd rather be knowledgeable, than stupid. (happy?)
Edit: lots of winners (stupidity) in this thread (sarcasm)
Please, it's "you're" if you're trying to insult me. It's sad that I have to correct you.

1 ReplyAs with any insult, the word and its specific definition become irrelevant. The point is to convey disrespect, not to spray pedancy all over which definition of a word is right. You complete and utter muffin...

nerdy chicks are HOT!

2 RepliesThe irony is that someone on a gaming forum is calling someone else a nerd. Now, I'm by no means a nerd (by the literal, schooling degrading term), as I expect most of you aren't. However, would you tell a girl/boy that you're trying to get with - who doesn't play video games and/or doesn't get involved with forums - that you talk about a game whilst you're not playing it? Probably not, because it's perceived as 'nerdy'. People need to get off their high-horses on here.

I'm a gaming nerd and proud!

When someone insults you it doesn't matter to them how you feel about it. When you insult someone you're trying to elevate personal self-worth above another's. You scorning 'the ones' who've called you nerd is the exact same thing. You're saying you're better than them because you possess this trait and they're saying they're better than you because you have this trait. The term nerd refers to someone who is obsessively knowledgeable about a subject and interacts poorly with others (socially) when their obsession is not the topic. A nerd is someone who is so consumed with something that their thoughts and opinions about anything else are stunted and retarded. Go ahead and embrace being a nerd, if you are in fact one, but it is in an insult. Being well-versed in something doesn't make you a nerd; being well-versed, socially awkward and obsessive makes you a nerd.
