I've been thinking recently about the origin of my name on Bungie and other peoples names and that got me thinking about the strangest names of all; the mods. Heres what I found:
Recon Number 54 - One of the first games Bungie made, was Marathon which happened to
have terminals in it like in Halo 3. One of these Terminals said this:
"Mjolnir Recon number 54 must stop them from exploding igniting"
Pezz - This ones complicated I think Ash says it used to be Pessa but he changed it to Pezz when he became a mod, all I know is his avatars from Invader Zim!
Duardo - Apparently it was the only name beginning with D in his Spanish class or so the
story goes..
Foman - The nickname he got in college
Skibur - Rubiks spealt backwards
Achronos - He made it up, he wanted xXX K11l3R Xx but someone took it first
Butane - He''s got an interesting story on the 4th page, to sum it up one of his teachers couldn't pronounce his surname, so one of his friends shouted out BUTANE as it got to him and it stuck
SonicJohn- John is his first name and sonic the hedgehog is his favorite game-Added for win
BobBQ - It's an achievement from Marathon Durandal, killing "Bobs" which are random people who always say "THEIR EVERYWHERE!"
QBix - Cubix, that old aimated cartoon that was closed down after 1 series, I <3'd Cubix
EDIT - There was more than 1 season?! How didi I miss that...
Thanks, I don't know how you people know all these

A little insight goes a long way. It's nice to read about the mods every once and awhile.

It's a good thing I'm not a mod or I would have lamed this thread up pretty bad
Posted by: Butane123 I got the nickname Butane from a shop class in 6th or 7th grade. At the beginning of the class the teacher would always call roll on an intercom system he had, and when he got to mine, always said my last name wrong (which everyone always does when they first see it). To help him remember how to say it, one of my friends in the class yelled out "BUTANE!" right when he said my last name. From that day on, during roll, he called me Butane, and the name has stuck with me. The 123 part comes from when I was trying to make an AOL IM name and some jerk had already taken just Butane, so I added the 123 to the end because I am awesomely original.
Haha look at Butane acting like someone cares. ...damn it Butane.

I have one of the most ridiculously original names you could possibly have for this website. Oh how I wish I could change it.

Even though it doesn't count because he wimped out, Ghandi 2's moniker comes from this. I think its worth mentioning because Ghandi (the bnet user) kicks ass, and this is an awesome video.
Posted by: ShiningJustice Isn't seeing people that are famous on Bungie.net and then seeing them in a real-life picture make you feel weird?
Not really. I think it's funny how different my mental picture of them was way different from the way they are in real life, but i don't feel wierd about it...

My nickname is fairly easy to figure out the origins of. In case you have trouble making associations, I speak like a monitor, act like a monitor, and I forge great maps. Obviously, 7 is Bungie's number, they often replace Ts with 7s... get it? If you don't like it, blame my friends. They gave it to me and it fit better than Mike Power, my previous nickname (which is really weird considering my real name isn't Mike or anything close to it).
Posted by: evilcam What about Milkie? Is he not a ninja anymore or something? Herr Milch FTW. Oh and the origin for Anton's name is actually quite clever. Also SJ, CAVX, BB & I don't count cause we're not moderators.
Ha antonym, I actually remember reading that news post recently. Anyone know about the origin of Makaveli(spelling?) ?
Posted by: evilcam Oh and the origin for Anton's name is actually quite clever.
I remember that it had something to do with some other person whose name was written in a similar way. I forget exactly what it was... ...or did Steve tell him to use it?
Posted by: Primum Agmen Heh. Become a Bungie mod, become a minor celebrity to 4,000,000 people! I still say BB and Elmo for mod.
Borrowedchief too.
