Why all the Thorn hate?
"It's OP."
Ok, so use it. You can't really hate on someone for working the meta. If anything, hate on yourself for being too stupid or stubborn or elitist not to use Thorn, thereby unnecessarily handicapping yourself.
I'll admit to being a scrub for using Thorn when you admit to being either a) clozapine-deprived, or b) an elitist douche for not using it. Ladies' choice.

Do you really want to know why people hate on it? Because of the sheer volume of people that use it and typically only the one or two tactics that are the meta incarnate. You're right though, can't blame people for using the meta. That having been said, metas are typically larger than one of two primaries and one of several shotguns that are for all intensive purposes clones of one another. There's no verity. People don't switch weapons to meet a new challenge. And there lies the problem. People who use these guns use them almost exclusively (there are outliers of course) and so get a great deal of practice with them, and only them. If you force them into a situation where they have to use a different weapon to succeed they won't know how to react. It's like a boxer only over working on their right hook; it may be a killer, but that's the only threatening thing they can throw at you. Long story short, if you want to be better over all, don't just rely on the easiest option, work for it, you'll be a better and more well rounded player in the long run.

Well duh you can use it... In fact over 50% of trails use it (I'm sure crucible stats are similar). Doesn't change it from being an irritating bull$#!£ weapon.

Thorn is a good weapon and I have no problem with it because at the end of the day we all carry our best or favourite weapons in the crucible, shy not! If you are good you can take thorn players out was doing it yesterday with a hopscotch pilgrim and shot gun was great fun

I dont mind the thorn in PvP unless they use the thorn glitch which just drives me nuts!

2 RepliesI see the argument, but at the same time it also sucks to be shoehorned, so to speak, into using the same weapons to compete in crucible. Now obviously weapons aren't the only story. Contrary to what a lot of people will tell you, thorn is not an instant win button in crucible. You still do have to aim to kill people. But it also is true that thorn and tlw have some of the fastest ttk's in pvp and if you have someone who is very skilled with those weapons, well they're not gonna lose too many gunfights. Unfortunately based on bungie's "balancing" efforts to date, I don't expect taken king changes to actually balance anything, it'll just introduce a new batch of top tier weapons, most likely making red death even more powerful and buffing guns such as: MIDA, hard light and suros regime. I'm still not totally sold on thorn and tlw really being hurt that much either, we'll have to wait and see on that. The last hand cannon nerf did nothing to those weapons.

1 ReplyThe Thorn is pretty much a crutch though, people want to show they are good without using weapons that are considered overpowered by many people. The game would be much better if people couldnt get kills so easily with the burn
