Because people follow the meta of the game. Don't like it don't play crucible. People play to win and they use top tier weapons for that.
You're not a real crucible player unless you can understand and follow the meta to win. If you hate the burn use red death another counter for thorn. Understand the meta of the game.

You're forgetting that games are competitive to some.

That's because the game is fundamentally unbalanced, which is what happens when some people are lucky enough to have the best weapons in the game drop, while others don't. I don't complain about Thorn users, but I sure as hell will point and laugh when I switch to Thorn and beat them at their own game, thus proving that they only use it because they can only get kills with an OP gun where they have an edge over those who don't have said gun. And let's face it, it's dead easy to outshoot bad Thorn users. Of course, that's usually when the lag-switching starts, "coincidentally" when they start losing even though there was no latency in the match right up to that moment. :(
