Lol. Here is my tongue in cheek reply.
Did you play mass effect 1?
Did you play mass effect 2?
Did you play mass effect 3?
If yes to all three, did you complain that you left your armor, weapons, money, experience and materials all behind to play the next game?
You can do this argument with any game series. It's called a NEW game!
The same thing happens in MMOs but you can keep your gear but it becomes obsolete within 2-4 levels. Be grateful that like an MMO you keep your money, materials, experience, rank, AND EXOTICS.

Edited by FoeHammerXII: 8/6/2015 8:05:49 PMDid Mass Effect 1 have a 10 year life cycle? Did Mass Effect 2 have a 10 year life cycle? Did Mass Effect 3 have a 10 year life cycle? Did your character or just your "decisions" carry over from game to game?

Your guns and armor are not your character. Does your character change with one piece of armor or weapon? You are making an argument based on your own misinterpretations of character vs what is in your vault.
-
You just said it your "look" that includes gear you have earned, there's no need to google simplicity.
-
Btw, serious question. Are you on xbox one? If so do you want help getting skolas down? I've done it and got friends who will help you if you want.
-
Sigh. Look as your face and race. Jeez you never played an MMO have you?
-
Final fantasy 14 master race. Scholars are the best.
-
I could never get into final fantasy. Tried three times. Just not me.

Yes I did complain. Mass effect was supposed to be a game where all your choices had an impact on the sequels but the only thing that carried over at all was who you had sex with in the prior games. It was a huge let down. The game itself was good but the way they made it sound it could have been a lot better. It's the same thing they're doing now. They tell everyone that there guardian will be with them for the 10 years but really it's just the same guardian everyone else has. There isn't a lot being carried over to make your guardian your guardian.

You are bringing up things that I did not list. Mass effect was hyped and the choices did matter but it wasn't to the standard some people had in mind. However, in regards to mass effect did you complain that you couldn't bring you armor, weapons, money, experience and materials from previous games?
-
Yes I was expecting to start the next game with the exp, paragon, and weapons from the prior game. Obviously after I played the second game I didn't have the same expectations for the third. The taken king isn't an expansion like they have expansions for wow. It's going to be its own game and you won't be taking weapons from it back to vanilla destiny and the dlcs. You won't be taking your level back either. So all legendary gear will stay relevant in destiny but will be pointless in ttk. Everyone points to mmos and how gear becomes irrelevant when an expansion comes out but they don't have tiny expansions that come out every three months that makes grinding pointless. If they were making gear worthless yearly instead of quarterly people wouldn't be as upset. There will be people who finally make it to the tower this weekend and their adept weapon will only be useful for a month. The way they are doing things just invalidates everything everyone has accomplished before the ttk.

Edited by PROCK7: 8/6/2015 8:18:59 PMIn an MMO your gear becomes obsolete in 2-4 level difference. You seem to accept this but you are made at the speed it is done? Lol. I would play wow or kotor and within 2-3 months get bored and move on. Destiny keeps it fresh much faster and you complain. Also now they force people to have to level up rather than a quick bypass via light armor which was a big complaint by people. "It's not fair this scrub went from 26 to 31 in a week after their dlc came out." Well now they have to level up before they can use the armor so there are no shortcuts. Edit: I hope that bungie has learned from vanilla and tdb and how to keep the ability to level the armor and weapons within a year. That way the thing you complain about your weapons and armor being obsolete in 3-4 months is negated to some extent.

They're giving people one time use boosters to level them up to the level needed for ttk. So people who have never played this game and have a level one character will get automatically leveled up to be on par with everyone who has grinded their way to max level at this point. And if they're giving people boosters to get to 20 they are more than likely going to be giving out free gear in ttk to bring them up to lvl 34 light so they can jump right into the game.

As for armor light will be meaningless. The big question is for us at light level 34. Are we going to be level 34 then grind to 40 or are we going to have to grind from our "true level of 20" (minus light armor) to 40? If it's the latter than that would suck.
-
Neither they have a separate booster that is going to instantly level people up to 20 so they can play ttk without playing anything before it. It's just going to be another 6 light levels. The screen shots from before showed people close to lvl 50 but it looks like they took out the 10 non light levels.
-
Well that is dumb. Why include the original game and the dlcs if you don't have to play them?
-
That's why they are giving it to people so cheap.
-
Wait I see now. They still need the vanilla and dlc as the base template for the game world. Otherwise they would have to recode everything.
-
I don't think so I'm pretty sure ttk is going to be a stand alone game. You won't be able to go from the ttk destinations back to the destinations in destiny without changing discs or games.
-
Well the base code for the planets and tower are in vanilla. The reef is in how. The changes will be in zones. So say in cosmodrome Geography will be the same but the difference will be the separate zones such as the divide will be populated with different mobs. TTK will add to this "universe" by expanding out from the middle or be placed on top like a different level of a building.
-
I don't think it's being added to the world like the dlcs were. It's going to be separate.
-
That would be odd. So you believe it's separate from rest of universe so for instance no ability to go to reef and play VoG?
-
Yep that's why they are reworking the old strikes with the taken in them so it will have all of the strikes from the original and it won't seem like a restart with only 3 strikes. The original strikes will still be available in destiny but not ttk.

Great thread you guys keep talking lol. Seriously.
