I will be extremely disappointed if old items become obsolete in the future and are unable to be brought forward. Here is why: 1) VARIETY Being able to max level anything with the arrival of the House of Wolves was a great evolutionary progression for Destiny that offered an insane scope for variety not previously realised with the game (before the House of Wolves, everyone had Raid or Iron Banner gear for the maximum level). In this current era, players wear all sorts of gear. Variety is good because it makes engagements more interesting and therefore entertaining. If old gear becomes obsolete, especially armour, I have two options; become handicapped and get left behind, or change who I am. Neither of those options are cool.
