Thought on the Old Weapons and Armor?

I'm not here to whine but just curious. Maybe more experienced MMO players could shed some light on the subject. Below is my thoughts on the TTK story over weapons and armor. My biggest problem with this is how it seems as though any brand new player could possible be as high ranking as a year one or even Christmas guardians within a week of TTK release. I'm all for new players not having to grind twice as hard to catch up but it stinks that nothing separates us from them. 2 months after TTK is released we will all look the same and all be using the exact same weapons. It's as if year 1/Christmas players have ran 3 miles in a race already and bungie is now like "Nope you have to start back at the 100 yard mark." Not only will the new guardians catch up really quickly but fatigue is already setting in with the older player, at least me anyways (sorry I know it's an awful metaphor but the only one I could think of.) I know this isn't an MMO and I haven't played one for very long but aren't players who've played longer at least award a higher level or at least have less of a grind to get to the new max level? I know weapons don't carry over for very long but how are they separated from the older players? Just confused on how this works. I didn't mind the grind originally due to it seeming as if getting these weapons/armor now will help in the future or at least allow me to stand out as a year one destiny player. IMO it seems as if all that grind was for naught. I honestly haven't minded anything bungie has done up until now. I'm not whining and I under stand that we need to move on but restarting the grind all over at 0 is sort of disheartening. It's almost as if it's a chore now. I'll wait to see TTK before I decided on my next step. I know I'll play it just for the new subclasses but man that grind is almost like a second job now.

I don't know why you feel some sort of self entitlement over others based purely on how long you have been playing a game??

    • Stop thinking of it as a grind is all I can tell you. You either enjoy playing the game or you don't. Weapons and armor will come and go. If the game if fun for you then that really should not matter. I am personally excited for new items. I would not want to go through the next 9 years upgrading the same old gear every time a dlc or xpac is released. Now you will be able to use old items to progress the new items from what it looks like so do not start deleting items just yet.
