The more I read about the taken king the more it sounds like this is what vanilla destiny should have been.
It sucks that year 1 players have to play 40 - 80 bucks to get what the game should have been all along.
I dunno. I still wanna see reviews before getting excited about it.
And if the end game is still tons of grinding I'm not doing it.

I think that they had a legitimate fear of failure and hedged their bets. When it actually succeeded, I think they realized that they had a lot of work to do.
-
Sorry man, if you can't enjoy the grind.. Destiny really isn't the game for you. There's bound to be even more grinding with all the new stuff they are adding.
-
World of Warcraft. The burning crusade. Same exact thing. They went back and redid the earlier quest lines. Changed everything. It evolved. It's ok guys. This is not abnormal.
-
2 RepliesWe have been in a year long beta test. In my opinion.
-
3 RepliesAbsolutely it should have been. This is not a traditional expansion, it's a re-do. That means they know year 1 was a mess and clearly it was more of less a beta test for the real game. People getting into it in Sept are actually paying for a full game now!
-
I honestly would've preferred if Destiny was pushed back a year and TTK came with the vanilla game.
-
Its what every dlc should have been
-
1 ReplyMy two cents: Knowing that my armor and weapons except exotics will be pointless year to year in Destiny. Why would I ever grind for any Lott or Armor? That's what spoil the game for me.
-
yeah i can agree with that and im not getting anything until i see some reviews as well. it still bugs me that all year 1 gear that we spent a year grinding to get is going down the drain all that time spent grinding raids etc is becoming obsolete yeah yeah i know thas how MMos are but i want my fatebringer in year ten thats just me.

Do yourself a favor and stay off the hype train this time. Bungie and Activision are the masters of marketing.
-
2 RepliesDuh, Bruh. Of course the end game will be grinding. The difference is that gear you already have is taken out of the loot table. No more grinding only to get the same stuff over and over again.
-
3 RepliesWait for reviews. Bungie tends to overhype and underdeliver. Vanilla Destiny came out, people slammed it, they said TDB would be better, were excited about the storytelling etc. Then it came out and wasn't all that. They apologized for CE sucking and said they learned their lessons in PoE and it was going to be awesome. Then PoE came out and it again, wasn't all that. And here we are again, they learned their lessons and promise a better experience. Touting new armor variety yet we've only seen 2-3 per class, one a ps4 exclusive. Not counting exotics i wouldn't be surprised if that's all we got. I've already seen a screenshot of the vanilla 'obsidian mind' looking helm being peddled as new, nevermind the fact that you could buy that from vanguard initially before they removed it from rotation for almost a year. Yeah real new. I will remain a skeptic given their track record.

Everyone staying off the hype train...I think thats smart. I have to say I rather enjoyed vanilla Destiny, the gameplay mechanics I can learn to live with, what was really missing was the flushed out story I was hoping for. For what they had, it seemed more of it was meant to be uncovered by the player through piecing "meaningless babble" with the Grimoire cards and murmurings of various venders and characters, and Bungie was giving a "broad overview." I hope Taken King features a more linear plot.

Yep, Taken King Destiny sounds like an amazing game. Too bad it's taken $140 to get there. It feels like we played a $100 beta for over a year.
-
1 ReplyEdited by sean bingo: 8/5/2015 4:38:27 PMYeah, Year 1 was a test. I think most of us can agree on that even if we can't actually present solid proof as Bungie would never admit it.
-
1 ReplyI agree. I saw the cutscenes and read lots about it and it feels as though destiny year 1 was a giant beta. Personally now I'm ok with this because I feel like going into the future destiny will be much better
-
I am in total agreement with you OP. But you have to admit, us year one players have had some fun with this game so far. And we have so many tales to tell the year 2 newbs about Bungie's epic -blam!- ups.
-
1 ReplyWell it doesn't matter. It's still here! And it will be awesome!
-
I'm happy with my purchase, and have gotten endless entertainment and fun with my friends. I remember thinking I could kill my friends with a rocket launcher, then killing myself but my friend doesn't die.
-
4 RepliesIt actually is the same thing as the vanilla game. You'll have to grind the new raid to get to level 40 like you had to grind VoG to get to level 30
-
True, but keep in mind how hard it is to make a ground breaking game that will last 10 years.. Do you honestly think any game can get that right come day 1? I knew the game would start out rough but stuck around because it has potential.. And with every expansion it's coming closer to that potential
-
I agree. Kinda dumb that we year one players have to $140 minimum just to get the game we always wanted (hopefully). Tbh, that exclusive shader, emblem, and sparrow we're getting is kinda meh. Would have been cool if we got an exclusive exotic weapon instead.

I think that bungie put the game out way too early because of deadlines and we are starting to see just what they can do with it. I'm excited.

It was supposed to be the first dlc I think
