I believe that in order to show experience v inexperienced players they should require players to complete specific raids and PoE so that they can continue ranking up. Eliminating light lvl wont make a difference. You will still have noobs grind story missions, patrol and bounties just to rank up.
Ex:
To get past:
26 beat VoG Normal
28 PoE
29 VoG Hard
30 Crota Normal
32 PoE
33 Crota Hard
34 PoE
35 PoE
Etc.
For those claiming this is elitist it is not. There are additions in this dlc including VoG and obviously Oryx. How can you fight oryx w/o fighting Crota. How can you understand the new vog quest w/o completing VoG?
*** Crucible is not included and shouldn't be because the crucible does not really add anything to the story. Ranking up should include story related obstacles, not laggy pvp events. It makes sense that guardians truly grow by fighting their enemies not by practicing on each other.
Edit: So raid matchmaking seems to be popular. Perhaps with raid matchmaking being optional?

Never gonna happen. It would alienate casual players, the majority of their fan base. Game would die as soon as something this ridiculous was announced. And you don't think PvP requirements would be necessary after you list all the PVE bullshit? GTFO.

I personally enjoy content being blocked by some walls such as attunement in early world of Warcraft raids. For example players right now can dive directly into Crota without ever doing the dark below content. But for PoE it requires completing HoW content and the 28 before doing the higher ones.

Edited by Willie Killigan: 8/29/2015 11:56:45 AMSorry to break this to you so called 'Hardcore' gamers, you're casuals with a special snowflake complex. Consoles and their games are made for us casuals in general. REAL hardcore gamers play PC games, challenging PC games at that. If you need to draw a line in the sand to make you feel special so be it, just know you're just a casual try hard nothing more. The OP and others that support his asinine theory need to stop worrying about what another person does with their free time. If you take your head from underneath the next man's scrotum then you may see that gaming is about having fun with friends not what you've accomplished in some fictional universe.

How about you let people play the game the way they want to. Why should people be forced to play the raids cause they don't meet your standerds? If I spent $140 on this game, Im going to play the way I want to.
-
The only problem with that is if you want to over level for something that's giving you trouble.
-
1 ReplyI'm never buying DLC so no I don't agree.
-
Other... no one cares
-
Completion of the story and an adequate minimum light level (gear score) should be the requirements. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary.
-
Definitely not. (Im not one) but for those that skipped a dlc cause they didn't like it, should not be locked out of endgame content and locked out of higher levels because they dont have the dlc. It would be unfair to force them to pay to level up.
-
18 RepliesTerrible idea. Lets lock out more people out of end game content. Some people don't have time to find teammate or prefer playing alone.

Edited by Sanctus Michael: 8/26/2015 4:46:07 PMI can see your train of thought, but since it seems... at this time... that the previous 2 raids will yield irrelevant rewards as far as yr2 ttk oriented events, doing this is just a waste of time. You mentioned experience, for example. Having done crota and vog or even poe doesn't mean you'll do well in the next raid. I can be a crap player and have been carried through all of the 3 you listed and still be a crap player in the next raid. Sorry, but your logic is flawed. Having played previous events doesn't mean I'll be a good player in the new end game events.
-
I raid frequently and I say no. It should NOT have an impact on your level in any way. However, I believe those who raid should have access to gear with the highest levels of light. The way it's always been.
-
I say other because as much needed as it is imo for people to Raid and actually learn how to do a Raid, not everyone is capable. Maybe extend the time a checkpoint lasts in a Raid? 2 weeks maybe?
-
No because i want my friend who is a first time destiny player to be able to play with me in Kings Fall when TTK drops
-
1 ReplyThey didn't get rid of light levels because of "noobs". ... Their study showed that more than 3/4 of the players that stopped playing Destiny did so once they hit lvl 20 and the leveling system switched to Light. It was an awkward leveling system that never truly worked
-
A huge community criticism of Destiny has been the way certain things are setup that make tasks nearly essential for arbitrary reasons. It was a common criticism for exotic bounties and reaching high levels prior to HoW. I don't see why we would back track now by adding arbitrary requirements to levelling. Especially so PvE focused. I note you have zero PvP requirements. Let people play the way they want. Your "skill" is denoted by shaders, emblems and raid weapons and gear, why do you need anything more?
-
Edited by Aqua: 8/29/2015 6:47:54 AMNo, because then content is being locked away just because you're not a raider. There are people who play just for the pvp experience. Only 20% of players have ever beat a raid. Bungie trying to bring old players back, but your idea would do the opposite.
-
2 RepliesIf you say yes, you should explain. I say yes only because it helps you learn different mechanics and forces you to communicate with your fireteam. Also, learning relic and sword helps you get over "stage freight"; that is the feeling you get when everyone counts on you, and there is nothing wrong with it. Personally, I can run relic all day; sword...never have because people always bitch about wiping. Find a healthy team and everyone will know why they are there. Clearly, I haven't found that yet with Crota. NEWS FLASH-your team will wipe multiple times while anyone learns running the relic/sword. How do you think the first people learned? (Last line was sarcasm, they wiped multiple times as well.)

1 ReplyIn response to match making.... That is a terrible idea! People will do the same as match making in weekly heroics now. As in expect others to carry them. Some pric decided to level up their husk of the pit while I worked on phogoth and the rest of the adds. This is unacceptable behavior for an activity in any match made scenario. Focus on your main objective please. One again, match making is a terrible idea, unless you have the option to run a raid solo, two man, or your choosing. (Guarantee people won't make it to the last paragraph....)
-
6 RepliesNo. Some people simply don't have time to do a raid, especially if that raid takes 2 to 3 hours due to people not knowing what they're doing. You might say oh well just save the checkpoint and come back. Because, yeah, the likelihood of 6 strangers hooking back up to complete something at a later date is completely nill. Also this is forcing pvp people who want to get to 40 to run heroic strikes for gear to do raids in which they have no interest. They don't care about story, don't want to hear about the story, all they want to hear is shaxx your crushing them! Storywise we destroyed crotas crystal in story mode and went through a portion of the vault of glass in the hunt for skolas. Raids are not the story. They supplement the story but the game makes just as much sense without them. In fact VoG had nothing to do with vanilla destiny or the hunt for the black garden.
