One of these days kids will learn that KD doesn't matter as long as you win. Somebody could have a high KD yet be the least objective minded player or simply not a team player. I'd rather have teammates that know how to play as a team as opposed to caring how much a number looks to others. If you get teammates that can do both then that's great. Playing with a good team is the best way to have a high KD. If you are playing by yourself and actually trying to win then your KD is going to be lower than somebody who plays with a full group of six
Please go watch truly competitive FPS games and tell me what some of the pros KDs are against others at their "skill level".
All that matters is how you played that last game and then you move on to the next one. That's why people look at KD spread .....not ratio... after games.

This. Go and look at the Xbox leaderboards for KD for all time play. The person with the second highest KD (5.36, I believe) does nothing but sit at the back of the map on Control with a Machine Gun (hence, he has a 33% win/loss ratio in Control, and has more Machine Gun kills than any other weapon).

Could you explain the difference between spread and ratio.... Is spread like your overall average is something?

Sorry for the delayed response. It kind of relates to each other. Kd spread is simply how positive or negative one went at the end of the game. For example, positive 5 would be something like 15 kills 10 deaths or negative 3 would be 12 kills and 15 deaths. I'm sure you have heard that before. Yes those numbers can be converted to a ratio but KD ratio is usually discussed in the manner of the game's lifetime. One could easily argue that it does mean something and I wouldn't disagree....but it definitely doesn't mean everything. I would be more intimidated by a high win loss ratio than a KD. There are so many variables that play a part in KD that I don't think it's a good indicator of talent. If someone has a K/D under 1.0 or much below that, it usually is simply because they make poor in game decisions or try to do too much on their own...aka making dumb plays. Yes there are some people who just don't have the same hand eye coordination as others but this game definitely doesn't require it as much as other FPSs. Just simple knowledge about shooting games and understanding in game situations makes such a huge difference versus simple gun skill. The two combined is ideal though.

Just too many variables in a game to worry about a number. I'd rather play good people all day and be challenged and maintain slightly above a 1.0 kd than just Stat whore on bad players.

Edited by Aname: 8/5/2015 2:07:20 PMBasically the same words in this instance, just used badly. They mean to say lifetime kills for ALL of their characters in ALL game modes vs the end of match kdr. Some people are not that appealing to play with in pvp. "i" am garbage in pvp but I try to improve. If you tell me something along the lines of git gud, no. I won't improve. That's not beneficial to anyone. Anyone I see that I have an edge over and can help them, I try to give constructive criticism to. it may not be good criticism, but at least it's somewhat constructive for them
