Who else thinks taking light levels out is a mistake?

I don't feel like going to level 40, just like in other games like borderlands or cod where the grind lasts forever to reach master prestige and level 70, each level taking longer and longer. I would be ok with more levels if there was a mission to go with each one but let's be honest, bungie won't do that. And remember that time you reached level 20 and then you were like "wow this is so cool, I can use all this cool armour that boosts my level!" Light levels were a very unique feature in destiny and they are removing it. Destiny is going to mainstream and I doubt I'll be buying TTK for that amazingly high price.. Edit- most of you are idiots. Why would you want to grind a game by doing the same missions and crucible over and over. Just go play cod if you want a repetitive experience with literally 500-1000 levels of grinding, each one harder than the next! Edit- If the game started like this it would of been dead by now, let's be honest because other games like this already exist. Satire above Congrats on wasting your times responding nerds.

      • I like the new leveling because getting to 32 or 34 was way to easy. this will be more challenging and have a point to leveling instead of grind for 3 etheric light the first 2 launch days and say your good. it should take more time to get to a milestone like the highest level

      • At first i thought that removing light would be a bad move, but now we're able to wear whatever armor we want not just the ones with the highest light. (Might still be armor that are way better then the rest in TTK)

        • Its needed. Far too easy to hit light levels. I done a warlock to 32 in a day with no gear saved. Straight from scratch. New system is better, actual rewards for the grind.

        • If you don't feel like it don't do it then. You have a problem with it so much then that means YOU should be the one playing COD. This game is a MMO no matter how much Bu gie wants to deny it and it follows the principles as such

          • I'll try to ask this without typing a novel. So is the current light level we have just there for looks now? What requirements will be needed to do VOG or CE or POE? Using LL for these? Or the new ranking system? Main reason I ask is that even though it was a grind, we were able to get a few close friends high enough to be able to do all 3 of these. What will we need now to do them? And if some of those friends, in my case, don't spend as much time as before, how much work will it be to get them to be able to raid or POE? One of the many unanswered questions we have.

            • I could care less about light levels I just want gear comparable to the original endgame and raid gear. The HoW weapons and armor overall were a complete let down. Perks were awful, weapons were horrible besides a few. I don't mind leaving old gear behind I just want gear on par with it. It's not adding three hours of value if that three hours is on one strike boss.

              Unique feature? MMOs having been incorporating the "gear score" mechanic for ages. This is absolutely nothing new.

              Think of it this way, now you aren't forced to wear a certain type of armor just so you can compete in things like raids or pvp events, for the first time in....well ever...we actually can customize a guardian the way we want to

            • I'm mixed. Light level was an interesting approach to end game gear. It simplified the "gear up" process that many of us who played WoW and other games are familiar with, where you may be max level but have terrible gear. But it also placed players at the mercy of RNG and, initially, locked players in to practically identical looking characters. So, pros and cons.

            • Dude, reaching level 40 in destiny is going to be a piece of cake. If you can reach 20 in a day, then I'm sure 40 wouldn't be much longer. I don't think the actual light attributes are going anywhere, but they just won't affect your level. It seems 80% would agree

            • So you want to do one thing and be the highest level? They did this to make it take longer and for it to be fun and not straight away do the raid. Would you rather have this last one month or until the next game or expansion?

            • While I think armor and weapons should mature over time, I don't think your "level" should be tied to a piece of armor. Hopefully, we can still level up our armor (and weapons) and have it grow with us over time but my character is what should determine "level".

              The idea of light levels was good, but it ended up being wrong. A future iteration of the concept might allow it to work but right now it just doesn't function appropriate to the player base. The big rub is the plethora of content that seems to be COMPLETELY abandoned by the design of TTK. There seems to be no reason to revisit the old raids for the majority of players... The big mistake was also deucing on the investment players have made, its better to drop a flawed system but there is no excuse for them treating the game like its an MMO first and foremost. It's supposed to be a Bungie shooter. Picj up and go fun... not this retarded grind fest it has become. I smell Activision more and more as this game evolves and someone needs to get the f*cking febreeze already cuz WoW this is starting to stink
