I don't feel like going to level 40, just like in other games like borderlands or cod where the grind lasts forever to reach master prestige and level 70, each level taking longer and longer. I would be ok with more levels if there was a mission to go with each one but let's be honest, bungie won't do that. And remember that time you reached level 20 and then you were like "wow this is so cool, I can use all this cool armour that boosts my level!" Light levels were a very unique feature in destiny and they are removing it. Destiny is going to mainstream and I doubt I'll be buying TTK for that amazingly high price..
Edit- most of you are idiots. Why would you want to grind a game by doing the same missions and crucible over and over. Just go play cod if you want a repetitive experience with literally 500-1000 levels of grinding, each one harder than the next!
Edit- If the game started like this it would of been dead by now, let's be honest because other games like this already exist.

Its much better. It allows for flexibility in loadouts.

It makes me feel closer to Borderlands now.

Edited by JarodColdbreak: 8/5/2015 5:14:01 AMLight Levels were one of the most annoying "feature" in the game. In the past they forced you to wear the same armor to be on max level. Everybody looked the same. Then with HoW they wanted to change that, but because Etheric Light was hard to come by for some people you would still have people run around in only kells gear etc. Finally they get rid of this stupid mechanic. I find a nice new armor but I cant use it because it would lower my level. Wut? And to be honest: What's better than getting a new level up screen after beating some bad ass boss. It does not always happen at a boss but if it does, it just feels good.

1 ReplyThere was no joy I leveling up the light level. Remember when you just hit level 10? The edges of the screen turned gold and your new level appeared in gold letters. I missed that. It gave a feeling of real progression. Light level has no value if you can just take it on and off like a hat.
-
But we learned in HoW how useless light levels can be. I was never max with vanilla or TDB because I never went into the raids right away and thus never got a party. HoW drops and I quickly got to max within a week because I could just ascend and buy my way to the top. This is a good idea

I think it's awesome now we can look however we want
-
1 Replywhile it was cool it was still hard for some people who cant do all the different things to do like POE VOG or CRotas End with friends and if they couldn't do those things then they couldn't get any good or better armor so they were stuck at maybe lvl 32 because u can become lvl 32 just from stuff in the Tower
-
I don't get why you're upset.. The grind lasts forever? You can literally level a brand new character to 20 in a day. I'm hoping they make 20 to 40 or whatever it is take long. It gives us incentive to actually play through the content instead of just burning toward max level.
-
Nah i think its a good idea now people won't have to be worried about being low lvl'd to do a raid really what we will need is defense now.
-
1 ReplySo people who are base level 20, and have light gear 33 or 34, will they start playing from 20 to 40 or will we go a different path. My brain hurts on how this will come to play. Need an explanation cause I'm so confused lol. Just started playing Destiny and new to this.

Lvl matters a lot in this game for damage scaling. As such taking RNG out of this part of the equation would be a good idea. Level will now reflect time invested rather than RNG luck. Now the good gear will still drop by RNG so there will still very much be a grind.
-
I always felt the light level was an odd decision. It felt like they (Bungie) were just trying do something different. I don't really have a problem with a traditional leveling system.
-
9 RepliesTTK is not an amazingly high price. I don't understand why people think that.

4 Replies"Destiny is going to be mainstream." What are you, a hipster? Destiny was the most expensive game in history, how could it not be mainstream? I like the changes. Because now it will feel like I'm actually progressing. I won't have to wait for stupid boots to drop from a raid, I can level up my character through hard work and skill instead of RNG. That's the way it should've been to begin with.

Edited by John Halo: 8/5/2015 4:16:42 AMI hope it'll take a lot more xp

1 ReplyI'm confused is it now just going by highest defense?
-
Light levels were kind of a bad idea to begin with. Interesting concept, but turned out to be very frustrating for a lot of people. Especially in the early days of "forever 29".
-
Light level was stupid to begin with. This is how the game should have always been.
-
Only people with a Grimoire score that low wouldn't like the change.

2 RepliesIf it takes a BIG amount of xp.. good!
