OK, let's just clarify

Old weapons being dropped off is part of every MMO game ever to date. 13 year olds crying about their Fatebringers being left behind makes me sad, because theta are whining to Bungie to fix this, because apparently they don't know that effort (big word, I know) needs to be put into making and maintaining a game and keeping its audience happy, which goes much more for MMOs, where you have hundreds of millions of people all on the same game, and obviously people will have their own opinions and Bungie doesn't have the time of capability to appeal to literally everyone. If Year One and Two weapons will remain in Destiny, a) the new weapons Bungie worked their asses off aesthetically crafting and balancing will be in the garbage since everyone will continue to use Year One weapons and b) their will be so many weapons Bungie won't be able to balance them all. As an MMO vet, I know how this is for people coming in to the franchise and losing all their favorite weapons, but really when it comes down to it all, this is what the moral dilemma is: Do you want to keep your Year One weapons OR Have a continuously shitty game (Bungie will have to put so much work into the unbalanced PvP due to OP weapons like Vision, Felwinters, Jolder, Spear, etc. and PvE will become bullet sponges and Dinklebot all over again after almost getting a major leap in storytelling due to Bungie having to fix PvP) In no way am I defending Bungie. They've screwed up big time in the past like with the release of vanilla Destiny/The Dark Below. But this is such a silly argument. TL;DR: The Destiny community needs to grow a pair

You are missing the point of why people are annoyed. They said after TDB and before HOW that they realised they had screwed up, they wanted us to take our weapons with us on the journey, to have stories attached to weapons. Then they have changed it again. It's like having a schizophrenic in charge. Also other MMO's have quest specific rewards. I don't want to have to start rerolling the dice on all the SAME strikes again just to get a decent sniper rifle. I haven't done trials but all those people with trials weapons must be pissed.

  • Year 1 had far too many "best in slot" weapons. Fatebringer, VoC, Black Hammer. The list goes on. I hope they learned their lesson and keep these guns retired and come out with balanced options to keep everything relatively optional/viable when picking a weapon. I don't really want to have to carry 12 different weapons just to have an ideal loadout for any situation.

    • Newsflash ... This is not every other MMO. First ... Since when is Vision OP? I haven't seen any threads complaining about that weapon. The other weapons you list are having their OP rolls taken away or nerfed. Bungie rarely nerfs specific guns, unless it's an exotic ... Which are here to stay. So how in any way would keeping the old guns cause any further issues in balance? Why would they even bother with the coming weapon balance if what you're saying had any merit? There are all of two PvP modes which even take damage into account for Christ's sake. If they make their new guns well, people will switch anyway. This decision merely reduces customization and keeps people from playing the game the way they want to. Why bother with etheric light at all if this is what they were doing? Oh that's right, to extend their measly content. Now they want us to start from scratch again. Well, I'm not interested in struggling through the new content with shitty guns and armor until I'm lucky enough to get that cool new RNG drop ... As if I had never played the game before.

    • I have a feeling that raid gear and exotics will make the trip. Why bother nerfing Black Hammer if the gun is irrelevant?

      • Ok let's clarify. Destiny sold this game based on the statement of "It's a shared world shooter." Drop the mmo bullshit..

      •
I want to clear something up that many consumers are confused about. Destiny is NOT a MMO. It was never stated by developers to be a MMO. matter of fact, the developers HAVE STATED that it is NOT A MMO. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/927/view/forums/thread/378069/page/1 http://www.gamesradar.com/what-destiny-if-its-not-mmo/ http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/7770/page/1 again note, the game was never said to be a MMO. The Media and Fans called it that, who never played the game. The people that made it, said its not. Who you going to believe? It has MMO Elements, as developers have said, but its not a MMO. Dot Hack, also has MMO elements, but not a MMO. Good example of clever marketing, (if you ever played that game and read the cover it states this)
