Since the soft cap for actual levels in Destiny is 20 and everthing past it has been light levels. Will my level 34 Guardian drop to 20 or 21? I say 21 because in most mmorpg's when a new level cap is added most players have already filled up their exp bar for the next level that didn't exist until the expansion. But being our's constantly refills and gives us motes of light, I'm not sure.
Thoughts, comments, speculation, insults?

According to destinytracker my prestige level is 170 so does that mean I'm already lvl 40 when ttk releases?

Edited by B3ar: 8/5/2015 12:23:34 AMIm guessing current gear will still work with Destiny 1. You will still be a 34 guardian but then switching to the taken king the light gets removed and you drop to 20? Idk lol Like a transition thats automatic?

8 Repliesi doubt it very much that they would reset progress, think of it like this, if they did reset people progress, you suddenly wouldn't be able to take part in activities that you could previous like VoG or Crota, or even PoE. No, I think it is more likely that whatever change they will be making to exp and leveling will be taken into account based on your current gear, so if you are 34 now, i am reasonably sure you will still be 34 after TTK. It should also be noted the Gameinformer article suggested that your leveling will not be linked with gear or dependent on gear like it is currently.

Maybe light just won't matter in TTK. Maybe the enemies were able to turn off the light... so there.

Edited by GerardD0T: 8/4/2015 11:47:09 PMIt makes sense and if asked objectively, I would agree that it would be 20/21. The gamer that played all the content and felt he earned level 30/32/34(ish. Way too easy to get 34 now) doesn't want all of that work to have counted for nothing. Start me at 34? Maybe? Making me regrind those levels is like how the exotic upgrade system worked in DB dlc. It would be the worst game of red light green light I have ever played.

1 Replygreat question we'll probably be at 20

3 RepliesHopefully they will take our prestige level into account. All those motes for passing the exp level point should count for something!

12 RepliesHow about retroactive application of all exp earned after 20.

1 ReplyYou scrubby level 20 you are bad and you should feel bad.
-
2 RepliesYou're currently level 20. Your armor gives you +14 in light level. You will go up to level 30 via experience while leveling up your new subclass. You'll more than likely be level 34 still.

1 ReplyThey better not drop us to lvl 20! Now nobody will be able to raid.

Yes. But only yours. ;)

5 RepliesAnd the new level cap is only 40
