So Bungie just told us..
That the day The Taken King releases.
All that gear your grinded for for hours on end and worked hard to get is becoming useless.
All that ascending for nothing.
Thanks Bungie. I'm cancelling my pre-order.

[b]We're getting remodelled weapons with different names and colours.
Devil You Know and Revelator have same base stats.
Red Hand IX and Lone.Rebel have same base stats.
Deadshot Luna SR1 and B-Line Trauma have same stats.
I'm so happy to dismantle my favourites for identical overall base stats DUPLICATES.
Everything will continue to be the same.
Yes "move on" to "better weapons".
All that changes are the name, colour and a slight adjustment to the models.. The attack value goes up.
Yet THE BASE STATS WILL DUPLICATE.[/b]
Edit: Yes this is my first MMO.
Yes I love the weapons I am currently using.
Yes I love playing Destiny, gameplay is incredible.
Yes I will complain when things piss me off.

I really couldn't care less about the genre.
Edit 3: If you're happy spending money for your weapons, that you worked hard for, to become obsolete then good for you.
I chase the weapons. You may chase armor, grimoire, experience or enjoy doing the same thing week in week out.
Insults don't affect me, in fact it shows how low your intellect is.
"They said wait" they shouldn't have to.
They shouldn't let people jump to conclusions.
They shouldn't let misinformation be released.
Edit 4: unlike the majority. I rarely use my fatebringer.
Final Edit: After reading many constructive replies and having checked in on Destiny today. I've decided I'm going to have to line up all my weapons and start cutting them out. Keeping all exotics and useful crucible weapons and those I consider to be useful.

You should've never pre ordered anyway. I'm still buying it, and personally fine with the the weapons being obselete, but they need to replace ALL of the weapons. The raids weapons, The POE weapons, The trials weapons, enemy all weapons drops. Seriously, if they don't do that, the endgame content will fade away. Anyway, about year one weapons becoming obselete: "All good things, must come to an end."

5 RepliesDestiny is an MMO. In an MMO when an expansion comes out all the previous gear you had becomes obsolete. Therefore you bought an MMO thinking your gear would be carried throughout the games lifespan. Gr8 b8 m8.

There's been so many times that people have dismantled things & said they're quitting & then they'll come back mad at Bungie with some title like "Bungie you made me dismantle my favorite guns!". We have little to no information as to how things will work in The Taken King. You shouldn't be preordering anyway because again, you should wait until it's released.

Stop being so attached to the gear man - The gear is a means to an end.. if you're playing with a mindset that the gear is the end than why are you even still here? I mean, once you get all the gear you want... what is the point of playing further? I'm fairly certain that the new direction they're going with different weapon manufacturers being more than just flavor text is a direct response to the fact that people were miffed about re-skinned weapons in the past two expansions so.. welcome to 3 months ago?

Their solution to avert boredom is to make you have to grind repeatedly to keep your weapons and armor current. That is really nice for them, but a direct insult to those of us who worked hard hours obtaining our current gear. In the future, go to the Vanguard and buy any gun. They will all be the same anyway. Save your time grinding raids for raid gear, it will be obsolete in a short time anyway. When the TTK is released, buy gear and wait until the next DLC and repeat. In the interim, play something else which respects your time and efforts more than Destiny will. That is, apparently, Bungie's plan for us all...

Dude mmos have been doing this shit for years I'm fine with getting new gear for year two because who wants to be using visions of confluence or fatebringer for let's say another two years it would get boring but you never no there maybe an equivalent to the guns you had before and armour of course
