Edit: Thread name changed due to community retardation (not all, obviously, some put up an amazing argument, and have ultimately answered my original question)
The throwing knife gets a buff when brawler is active, which is a melee boost. But for example, during the Iron Banner and crucible bounties, shoulder charge counts as a melee kill, but throwing knives do not.
I know its a 'ranged weapon' but still sits in the melee slot. And it still considered the hunter's melee ability, just like the titan and warlock have flame punch, energy drain melee, etc

We are talking about throwing knifes? Talk about the perk Circle of life. Killing an enemy with throwing knife while golden guns is active extends the duration. But not only is the extended duration 1/15th of you super bar, it is also impossible to kill a person with a throwing knife unless they are damaged or have weak armor stats, not to mention you have to do all of that in the 5seconds you have golden gun activated...Please fix this perk. As far as throwing knifes go, just shoot the enemy once and throw your knife. Use the perk that gives you reset on precision kills and 2 throwing knifes, and you wont need to complain about them.

Got a face guard vs lethal brute force. Reasoning....and balancing

Titans be like: haha puny knife no match for shoulder charge!
-
20 RepliesBecause getting hit by a truck is more deadly than getting hit with a spork.

Hahahahahaha Your toothpick vs a mighty Titan shoulder charge Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft Get out

Game mechanics what can u do

3 RepliesEdited by Sanctus Michael: 8/4/2015 9:04:00 PMWell, the shoulder charge is blunt force trauma with your internal organs taking an impact augmented by subclass energy. That force travels through your body rupturing internal organs. The object that caused the impact doesn't physically need to touch every organ, it sends a shock wave that resonates through the body damaging everything that wave passes through. Organs slam into bones and other organs. A knife is penetrating trauma, it requires the actual blade to hit you to do damage and it may not go through the helmet. Maybe the damage you do do isn't the blade hitting the brain, it's a headache you caused by slamming the helmet into their forehead. Lol Weaken the armor and the knife will go through and kill him.

1 ReplyShoulder share = requires no skill = kills Throwing knife = requires skill = hit then gets -blam!-ed up
-
2 RepliesThe shoulder charge uses light magic and shit to do more damage
-
5 RepliesSo, you're wearing heavily, futuristic armor and expect a knife to hurt? Getting hit by a shoulder charge is like getting hit by a speeding tank (and judging by the sound it makes, I'm speculating you break the sound barrier when you use it). Don't think you'll be standing up after that.

Video Game Logic.

1 ReplyMy favorite it when I die from a post mordom melee

I guess human can throw purple ball like voidwailker.
-
4 RepliesSad thing is, any other melee. ....if you miss you still have a charge to try again, miss with a knife and out of luck.

14 RepliesEdited by MrPoPo33: 8/4/2015 8:35:49 PMBecause we're wearing helmets.. how does it make sense a knife goes through armor? And armor would not save you from the impact of being hit by a car.

The sound of a shoulder charge is the titan breaking the sound barrier. Something going that fast would turn you into mist
-
3 RepliesI can break a door down with my shoulder. Can't do it with my knife. Come to think of it, there are a lot of things I can destroy with my shoulder that a knife would barely dent.

Helmet stops the knight Shoulder charge you get hit with so much momentum you die from shock

Edited by Raptor Food: 8/4/2015 8:15:59 PMLogical Argument: Because I'm wearing a helmet mate. If it wasn't infused with solar energy I doubt it'd do much more than make a little *dink* sound when it hit. The shoulder charge on the other hand... A Titan, in full heavy body armor, sprinting at you at top speed, then slamming his shoulder/knee into your face - crushing your helmet, with your skull inside of it. Also, based off the thunderclap like sound it makes, I wouldn't be surprised if the Titan was being propelled by Arc energy. So you've got that going for you. Gameplay Argument: A Titan has to take a few seconds to prepare the shoulder charge before he can use it, and has to be right next to you to make it work. He runs the risk of being gunned down while charging it up as well. The throwing knife on the other hand is an instant, ranged attack that can be deployed at any time you want - right then and there. If it was an instant kill, people would be dying without even knowing what hit them. It would be incredibly unbalanced. Kinda sounds like your super, doesn't it?

Because butter knife
-
It's a soft metal knife. Barely punctures the skin.
-
Well duh, thats why I'm wearing a helmet

1 ReplyNot sure about the logic, but I know that any warlock wearing The Ram eats my first shotgun blast at point blank range like they're a pleasant breakfast cereal. "Yum!", they say then slap me to hell.
-
3 RepliesBecause it's a video game. The logic in the world =/= real world logic. If you had the ability to walk around and throw instant kills with no need to charge them before use that would be incredibly broken especially considering the aim assist on those things
-
2 RepliesIts a flaming knife. It doesn't want to finish you, it wants to finish on you.
