Destiny will not have Light level on armor anymore!
According to an interview, Year 2 will start without Light level on armor.
This means players will get from Level 1 to 40 (new level cap) all based on experience.
Attack and Defense still make a difference however.
Wearing all legendary gear at 40 is still favorable compared to all common armor level 40 of course.
[u]Year 1 legendary weapons are confirmed to NOT be able to be ascended.[/u]

16 RepliesI'll be sad to retire my old weapons, but I totally understand why it's being done. My hope is that we can at least continue our Exotics in some fashion. It's also nice to have a new leveling system that won't prevent us from moving on until RNGesus is kind enough to give us loot we need.

I don't want to have to shard my sexiest boots just to be able to have a fighting chance. I currently really like my guardian dress-up simulator. Hopefully we won't all have to look the same like we used to.

Well its actually good. You dont need to worry about the gear you wear since the power is the same due level. This allows you to go Fashion Souls ( Thats in Dark Souls ) or Fashion Destiny.... Fashtiny?

3 RepliesGee I guess I won't miss all those weapons that I kept cause I thought they would be rare later on, time to empty like half of my Vault, and honestly (if you disagree with me on this, I really don't care, its a personal opinion) the whole advanced RNG system kind of makes me think this game won't be a grind. (Unless there are 20 new exotics added into RNG system) and honestly I won't be looking forward to Xur and Nightfalls as much then.
