Poll: If your ping is too high you can't play crucible.
We've all had this happen. Mr 1 bar who is impervious to damage "owning" in the crucible. Just played a burning shrine game where i nova bombed, shotgunned twice, and melee'd and he was still alive.

Edited by Dooodley: 8/4/2015 1:02:32 AMI think tbe biggest problems are: 1. The netcode is really bad 2. People are making the situation worse by forming fireteams with members who arent compatible. Again, this shouldnt be a problem but when the netcode is as bad is at it you'll have people on red pings. From my experience, this is why " all solo player" matches generally are much better, from a connectivity PoV. The system doesnt have to compromise when it can pick single compatible players. Also, people are talking about ping. Are you refering to the network ping when testing your connection on xbox live? If so, that ping is irrelevant because it's just a test against the xbox server, which I'm guessing is somewhere in the States. You dont play on that server.

I have around a 16 ping with fast up and downloads. I still struggle with extreme lag because of other people's connection which is rediculous!

A high ping coupled with very forgiving lag comp gives players with bad connections an advantage Of course something should be done about it Teleporting players who become immune to damage simply to negate your connection advantage is extremely questionable. Why do we have to get a disadvantage dimply because a player has a shit connection? Why not remove them from matchmaking or ban them from crucible instead if screwing an entire lobby?

17 RepliesJust ran speed test , ping 343ms , 3.66mbps down, 0.3mbps up. Is this why i want to put my controller through the wall playing cruicible. My hits always seem to be delayed and sometimes cant kill people (blade dance whole super into one person yet i die?)

Rockets to the face won't even kill them sometimes, I'll just sit down. My internet has been acting up the last 3 weeks, I've googled the problem and talked to my isp, can't get it fixed. Ping on my computer to local server is 20 ms, with 14 down and .8 up, Xbox one pings Microsoft server in Seattle at 60 ms, so I should be good. I'll have a green bar, then in games it randomly drops to a red bar, very frustrating. I saw someone here mention jitter, so I'm going to check that. And I only red bar in Destiny on Xbox one, not my 360. I just house sat at a friend's house and I didn't red bar using my one, so who knows. #first world problems

1 ReplyIt's a shame Bungie didn't take the idea of letting the players search specific areas for players like Reach had; letting you restrict your search to North America and so on. Honestly, a game developer needs to stand up one day and say, "No, you can't play outside your region. It's not fair to other people that someone with a server a continent away is playing on their server."

2 RepliesMy ping is 5-10. Always full green bar except when entire lobby is red bar. A red bar is very hard to kill, its an entire TLW mag before the +100 pops up. GG can take all 3 shots without realising that the first one was OK. Red bar + shotgun is virtually unplayable. Best I can hope for is a trade. Had one guy earlier who popped up as 'immune' to a shotgun blast (he was full health). I [i]think[/i] it was the invincibility frames after bladedancing but I'm not sure. Red bar + shotgun + blink = return to orbit. Anyone with a ping over 20 tests my patience. 50+ is unacceptable for online play and over 100 is the equivalent of racism to me.

They just need to sort it out so that people of similar connections face each other. If you want to lower your MTU, you get to play with other cheating scum. Have bad internet, sorry, but you get the other people with bad internet. Also, if you have bad internet, stop using wifi and tell your parents to upgrade your service..

Latency and Jitter are the 2 biggest factors in online gaming. Latency is basically the delay between you and what's going on. Jitter is how consistent that delay is.
