Your PVP restriction policy has a fatal flaw...
Look at the all the posts of banned guardians and see what they ALL have in common.
EVERY SINGLE ONE claims that they have no idea why they were restricted.
Why is this significant? Well I'll tell you!
If ALL of these people dont know why they were banned/restricted, when the ban is lifted, they will do whatever they did before out of plain ignorance.
You didnt inform them specifically, thus they cannot know for sure exactly what they should not be doing. Yes we all know the rules, clearly some rule was violated somewhere, but which? Maybe they didnt realize they violated a rule and did so ignorantly.
So in summation, i emplore you to inform restricted/banned guardians with a generalized example of their "crime".
For example:
You manipulated latency at opportune times.
You played with someone who manipulated latency.
You used modified software/hardware.
You cherry picked matches.
You booted other guardians offline.

I this this is a critical point. With TTK and mayhem about to launch, do you really people who can claim ignorance and repeat offend?
Dont give them a reason or an excuse to cheat/break rules again.
Please inform people as to why they were banned so they can correct their behavior. Its important!

I agree, but Bungie doesn't have a standard way of contacting it's player base. Not everyone is on the forums, not everyone has a verified email, etc. Potentially, Bungie could create specific error codes that you can Google to understand which part of the ToS you violated to earn your restriction, but they'd then need to classify the various offenders and ensure they recieved that specific code instead of the general "you've been restricted" message. That means work and resources. Essentially, you'd need to find a simple way for them to communicate before they could communicate that would be cost effective before Bungie would implement it.

Ignorance does not equal innocence but I feel as with a lot of things in life, if you're going to take action that is directly going to effect someone such as ban then an explanation/reason is owed. It's obviously not always that simple but I don't feel this would really be a stretch for Bungie to do. As you say, people can't alter their behaviour if they genuinely don't know what behaviour needs to be altered. +1.

How about they solve the mystery on their own and if they can't then just ban them again. And tell which ever buddy of yours, who got banned and now is pleading ignorance, not to do any of the things you so expertly put on your list.

2 RepliesNunya, the flaw in your analysis is the assumption that the cheaters don't know why they were banned. I think they know exactly why. I think the flaw in Bungie's program of restrictions is that is too lenient.

4 RepliesBungie and half baked ideas and follow through. No freaking way is that possible. Sarcasm aside, agreed. Plus people dropping into the help section and trolling nonstop isn't helping at all. Bungie should at least give them a ban code type... or a comments section on each profile for which they can exchange information with the user in a private setting in which the user can access at anytime. When a decision is made, it would be simple for someone to drop a comment in that section explaining the reason. Not to mention the forum would not be spammed with pleas... in which the OP is being subjected to trolls.

1 ReplyAnyone who manipulated a game or purposefully tried to gain an advantage through cheating. Deserves more than a months ban. We were playing this weekend and had a team of cheats. Can revive his team mates and capture points but can't be shot or shoot us? These people deserve a ban. They are ruining legitimate players fun.
