I'm on XB1, and decided to monitor the bandwidth. Nothing was really running besides the Xbox.
Besides the fact that there are no dedicated servers, what sort of information is Bungie moving for this game to "somewhat" work?

3 RepliesEdited by l Beanie l: 8/4/2015 10:11:59 PMYou host a lot when playing. Nearly everyone does. Probably part of the reason.. http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1022247/Shared-World-Shooter-Destiny-s Destiny is data intensive. Their dedicated servers handle important stuff only (to keep costs down lol) read that article to see how destiny works with p2p

2 RepliesDid this give you a split in DL and UL? I'm keen to find out just how much upstream bandwidth destiny chews

5 RepliesIts all the locked DLC you have to pay for later :)

My ISP gives a guideline of 300Gb a month. They do not punish you if you over once in a while. But they say if it happens too often they will require you to upgrade to the next tier. Only have done it once. Had to redownload my audiobook library after hard drive crash.

That kinda sounds low actually. I worked at Verizon and lot of explaining of the mobile data and found a 3 hour football game on my phone was about 1 GB. So if u were doing cruise or raiding, doesn't seem too bad IMO
-
2 RepliesWhen I was tethering off my phone for a few weeks whilst my internet was down, I was using on average around 100mb an hour.
-
1 ReplyChecked mine on Xbox one yesterday and I used 177GB last month somehow only playing destiny a few hours a day. Wow
-
1 ReplyBump for later. I get an 80 gig a month limit and I'm curious if you use up less data if you're playing on 360 rather than PS4. I just started from scratch on 360, so I'll have to grind all over again and since my Internet resets on the 8th, I'm not wanting to go over my data usage.

3 RepliesChange your wifi password mate. Also make sure you dont have any kinect settings that will constantly upload junk. That doesnt work and you arent pounding netflix, your provider is ripping you off.
-
1 ReplyYou should change your wifi passwords, m8.

1 ReplyI suspect, some other online activities were going on your console. Then again, don't quote me. I'n basing this on only have 80gigs a month and at my highest times playing Destiny I was logging like 10+ hours a day cus I was off from work due to breaking my leg. Couple that with torrents and netflixing I never went anywhere near my cap. I'm also on PS4 so I don't know what you did.

2 Replies1Gb? Mate, it's probably all the illegal pirated porn you've been watching...
-
It's the p2p data. It's more data when you load 11 consoles data to make a game, then to load data to and from a server that handles everything. If you play control your xb draws the whole map and all friendly and enemy team members all the time during the game. Dedicated servers actually take less bandwith and data to play.
-
2 Repliesif you have the kinect connected its recording videos of you with full audio, dik pics, and posting them on dating sites
-
5 RepliesI can't get internet in my place, so I tether my phone. I don't lag, and fortunately get unlimited data, I'd be screwed if I didn't have such a good mobile provider. Shout out to 3 for the awesome deal I'm on.

Eh I think a neighbour (or 6) is stealing your wifi.

Edited by Seraphim Frost: 8/4/2015 5:23:40 AM1 GB in one hour? It took me a week to use 2GB. What are you doing?
-
5 RepliesWhy do you think patches aren't so big or certain things already implemented without advising you? Destiny downloads updates by itself bit by bit.
-
You do know everything you on destiny use bandwidth
-
5 RepliesWhere are you guys that you only have 40gb of Internet to use.?
-
It's all the locked content on the disc.

Edited by GrizzlyTeeth: 8/3/2015 2:00:16 AMThis might be other parts of XB1 running in other processes, like game updates etc. For normal gameplay I rarely see large packets originating from Bungie servers or from the console (on the PS4), only when the game is being patched. I have a network monitoring station at home, a full appliance. I suspect XB1 have other services that were updating/communicating while you played. Leave the XB1 idle and see the difference. EDIT: Forgot to mention, voice will add some load on your bandwidth as well, both ways.

My parents poor bill

3 RepliesAnd then ESO on ps4 literally uses around 15-20 MB per 3 hours. Going to the tower from orbit eats over 100MB crazy pants. As much as people hate it that's why I stick to call of duty, it only uses around 30MB an hour and with 40GB a month I can play call of duty forever but with destiny I was having to wait a week or two to play at all.

seriously? wow thats heaps so glad im not currently playing it until ttk.
