Competition-the activity or condition of striving to gain or win something by defeating or establishing superiority over others. while there isn't anyone out there who runs tournaments for destiny players, destiny is, by definition a competitive game, simply because it rewards you for proving your better than someone else in a competitive way. now while you may not care, saying "play how you want" should never legitimize breaking the rules and boundaries of the game simply for your own self entitled victory complex, if you don't like the game, then please, do exactly as you've said and leave, a game like destiny that has such a massive focus on its community working with the developers doesn't need people who don't want to give a damn about the rest of the community. frankly, while destiny doesn't have any form of "ranking" or ladder for us to climb there is an honest trend of players being categorized based on skill level. there are people who play more pvp than pve, and they often consider themselves to be "the elite" simply because they have reached the point were they can reliably win in pvp. however, there are people who play pve consistently, and some of those people refuse to play pvp because they simply doesn't want to deal with lag, their opinion of balance or players who, as we've seen, have the ability to cheat. to put it bluntly, while you may not care that people have the ability to cheat others out of a fair game, others do care, and your belittling of someone because they are dissatisfied by this cheating simply retracts from the community built around this game. saying "let them cheat" doesn't fix anything, and while destiny doesn't have competitions or tournaments built around it, this game is relatively new, and we are only just reaching the one year mark, there is every chance that destiny will become just as popular on a high end scene as CoD and HALO, but not if the pvp is full of either cheaters who hack simply because they can't play the game or people who say "oh well, its not competitive, let them play" especially considering that high end gaming competitions have specific ways to determine if someone is cheating, so those games obviously had people who cared about stopping cheaters. TL:DR- you might not care, but others do, the game is competitive, and maybe you shouldn't act like a 1 year old game should be as competitive or MLG as decade old games

It might not be mlg competitive, but it is annoying as hell when your ToO streak is ended by a cheater.

OP never said it is, he just said their handling of cheaters doesn't make sense. He's annoyed, and justly so. He's not blindly bashing the game, he's bashing something that's clearly wrong.
