Why I use thorn.
Thorn is a good weapon.
It is reliable and easy to use.
It can kill people at most ranges.
It can kill people quickly.
Quick kills=More kills and less deaths.
More kills and fewer deaths give me more points, and my opponents less.
This means my team has a better chance of winning.
Winning is fun.
Call it a crutch. That's fine.
Call me a scrub. That's cool too.
But I'm not going to handicap my self by using a weapon that's difficult to use. Well most if the time anyway. Necrochasm is actually pretty fun to use.
Edit: The point is that nobody thinks about why everyone uses it, and I agree its way overused, but only rage when they die by it again and again.
I'm just pointing out that it's pretty logical to use it. It's good. A little too good. But it's not the ultimate win all button.
Edit 2: So many assumptions. I never said that Thorn is the only weapon that I use, or that I use most often. That would be Bad Juju. All the others I use when I feel it fits the situation or if I just feel like it.
It's not like using Thorn automatically makes you bad at the game, or is impossible to remove from your primary slot.

Can't blame you for using the best option available. Ain't nothing wrong with wanting to win. I screw around with NLB most of the time nowadays, but every now and then I whip out TLW or Thorn when I feel like securing that first place in Rumble.

There should be a crucible match where you can't use exotic weapons. I don't mind Thron all that much. A full team all using it is lame. I find the use of rocket launchers annoying. You can get more kills with a machine gun.

I use it for the same reasons. It's hilarious how many people whine about it when TLW and Red Death are just as good.

If everyone uses Thorn it's not op. It's actually a more balanced crucible with people using same loadouts.

It doesn't really need such an explination. We know you use it for the same reason anyone else does.......because it works.

Agreed. Everyone who plays competitive games want to do well, and the best way to do that is to play the meta. I'm not willing to put myself at a disadvantage when everyone else is using the most powerful guns.

For one thing, you're robbing yourself the sense of accomplishment when you do well without needing the most OP weapon in FPS history. Two, you've probably become so reliant on the game getting your kills for you, that you're gonna be a useless mess when Bungie neuters the fûcking thing in a few weeks. Use it in PVE all you like, I couldn't care less what people use in PVE. But, if you use the thorn in PVP, you're weak, you're sad, you're pathetic, you're scared and... you're not very good at that game.

2 RepliesI use it. I don't get annoyed by it when I die cuz I know how good it is. It's much more infuriating to be shotgunned or fusion rifled from damn near scout rifle range.

Pretty sure I have more kills with No Land Beyond than Thorn. If you're good at FPS, you know that the gun really doesn't make the marksman.

5 RepliesI use Thorn as well, primarily for the burn. Suppressing your enemy's recovery is such a huge perk. I don't care what people have to say about it - I use what works. I have thousands of auto rifle kills in crucible, so I wouldn't really consider it a crutch. I knew how to play before I started using it. I'm taking advantage of the most powerful weapon on the game, and I don't see there being much wrong with that. Only scrubs don't use weapons that they think are "cheap", and I don't care what scrubs, of all people, think. Keep devouring those scrubs, guardian!

I had fun using thorn when I first got it. But it's really not a fun or satisfying weapon to use any more in my opinion. I enjoy my Allfate, my Ill Will, my TLW, and the messenger much more.

Shot a hunter with all rounds. He just walked away. Turned around and one shots me. He was a level 27. Thorn sucks against God hunters.

5 RepliesThere is not one gun that should work as a Scout rifle, Sniper rifle, shotgun and pistol all at once. Thorn is a sniping shotgun scout plus it has burn. Shoot twice and run. Can you please tell what skill there is in shooting someone and then running away so the burn gets the kill instead of actually shooting your opponent until he/she dies. Thorn literally takes no skill at all and I never use. I had since the first month of Destiny and still won't use it because if how easy it is use. It is the easiest weapon I have used in all video games.
