We were all fine n' dandy until the Damsels of Destiny decided to create a sense of exclusion & impose self-isolation. As a person with MULTIPLE degrees in Sociology, this sets up the community for disaster. The idea of setting up a group where the prerequisite is something I can't (for the most part) control is ridiculous.
If you really want to be seperate from us, you've done all, BUT wear the proverbial bullseye.
I've taken a few women's studies courses, and I'm not claiming to read minds or anything, but we as humans don't really deviate far from what is expected of us. I fail to see the logic of a clan that excludes people based on Sex. I just don't get it. I mean, can I have an all Asian club? Probably. But why would I close myself off from other potentially delightful people. That's why I won't join the Damsels - I want to meet all types of people, not just those who reinforce what I already feel.
To simply feelings, we have three general attitudes towards something. We like it, we hate it, or we don't know what it is. If Bungie advertises your group - that cancels "we don't know what it is." So now we must decide if this is a positive thing or negative. Well, it excludes people with indirect results being a sense of rejection, opposing isolation, and/or seperation/segregation of people. Why would anyone liket that?!
The clan is nothing more than a group of Sexual Segregationists… or at least that's the ideology it exudes. Same goes for Dad's of Destiny.
The idea is for us to come together as one, is it not. But, judging by your standards, there are people who can't join either of your clans because "there not good enough."
If I turned in an application to work as a Sociology Teacher and they replied, "sorry, you're not male," and proceded to throw it out - how would that make me feel? I'm worthy, am I not? I'm just as capable in teaching or in this case, at playing Destiny. I'll bet my my ps4 that I'd have the highest K/D in that clan (one goal of Destiny).
My point is, how can you say people are intolerant when you yourself don't tolerate certain peoples. It's like an anti-American group living in California. You have the right to dislike the country, but you're in the space of others who do like it. You alienate a large portion of the community which in turn causes self-isolation. Ultimately, I'd conclude that you brought this upon yourself, or Bungie for making it possible.
As for Bungie, we get it. Target marketing, blah blah, wemon are an untapped market for this industry yadayadayada. That's fine, but cater to everyone. I'm in a clan called "JimCarried." We don't get a Bungie Bounty - hardly anyone does. We'd be legit opponents. Or Bullet Theory or any clan.
"It doesn't end until we are one and the same, and the more we dispute this, the longer we prolong solidarity."
So yeah, a group turned their backs on the Damsels in Distress, but they turned theirs first, intentionally, and without warning.

Or you know...they just wanted to have an all girls clan for fun.

Edited by EZLIFE: 8/1/2015 8:40:16 PMNot really people create clans that have commonalities and there happens to be a all girls group and dads of destiny are all dads my clan are all people from MA. All the rude comments are little shit heads with no respect for other people and use the mask of the internet to to talk shit as they are cowards in the real world. I am not sticking up for the dames of destiny i am only stating that most of the comments said from viewers would never say them in person.

8 RepliesEdited by ColNapalm: 8/1/2015 8:39:23 PMYou have 'MULTIPLE' degrees in sociology but you find the premise - ridiculous? Exclusionary, polarizing, feeding the underlying issues perhaps, I can think of a lot of reasons behind it or to find it objectionable but I wouldn't resort to a patent declaration of judgment. As such, I find your credentials or at least credibility, highly suspect. Their reason could be as simple as not wanting to put up with the sexual innuendo and remarks that I've heard fly in every team I've been in on Destiny that included women. Equally, Dads of Destiny may just choose a different pace and zeal than their kids. If you can't understand or appreciate differing desires in association then I doubt you fared well in class, particularly in your women's studies. I respect any association that doesn't spread hate or ignorance. Not that long ago, I watched centuries old men's clubs die to the ravenous opposition of women who were excluded only because men wanted a place to go where women weren't present. It was a loss (and I'd like them back) but I accepted that they may have to go to premote an equal footing or access. Certainly, 'business' was conducted behind these closed doors and would continue to be behind other doors but admittedly, the private spaces would begin to include trusted women once we removed the sign that forbade them. While I will not claim to know their reason for their association, I thought we were a nation(s) that respected any association that wasn't harming anyone else, whether we understood it, respected it, agreed with it or not? In any rank of pressing issues or dangerous people, I'd have to rate your intolerance much higher than the Dames' association. ----------------------------------------------- And one more thing, you do not argue or postulate the sociology of anything so please don't speak for an entire academic discipline or explanation.

Dude, mum, this is not how you get those numbers man. You're Just making things worse

2 RepliesEdited by Yahtzee: 8/1/2015 7:38:17 PMI like the MULTIPLE sociology degree comment best myself, thanks for those 'credentials', now I totally respect your 'expert' opinion. Taking some courses online from the Phoenix doesn't make you an expert chief.

You people need to lighten up a little. Why does it matter that Dames of Destiny exist? People are free to do whatever they want. I'm sure the creators of the clan made the clan with the best of intentions. Just let them be. You worry about yourself, I'mma do me and let the Dames do whatever they want to do. (Before you judge someone's actions, be sure you know the reasons of why they had to do it in the first place.)

Bumping this not because I agree, but because I think it's a good conversation to have for those who are interested in something a little less brainless than nerf posts. Thanks for posting

The idea behind a clan is finding more people that are like you to play with and for the girls who are tired of being harassed online there's a spot for them as well as the working father who's family comes first an needs people that understand that there's a spot for them as well. I'm a guy an not a father an support both of these groups 100%. Jus bc Someone's in a group doesn't mean they don't play with other people too... This isn't crips and bloods were talkin about.
-
College has failed you . You either live a very sheltered life or you are very ignorant.
-
This is really the most idiotic game community ever, they make a issue about everything, except the actual game they are supposed to be playing and talking about. Good job making a smoke screen Bungie, that way we can't see how right now the game is crap at best.

4 RepliesSomeone else understands that DoD promotes separation based on gender, age or status in the community? I thought I was the only one that saw it lol.
-
What college did you go to?
-
They probably still play with other people too. Therefore your theory is flawed. And clans are often made to categorise people in a certain way. For example clans That only accept a certain k/D. In this case it's woman, in other cases it's age (21 +) etc etc..

Edited by Unicronic: 8/1/2015 12:04:04 PMDegrees in sociology or not, this 'exclusion' topic I've seen passed around needs to die now. Does anyone have a burning desire to join that clan? Does anyone feel wronged by the criteria to join? It's like saying women's football is wrong because you have to be a woman to play it.
-
The one thing I'll give the Dads is from what I understand is they're not exclusively male fathers. That's just who they mainly cater to.
-
9 RepliesDespite this, feminists will continue to ignore this logic, since reason is simply another form of patriarchal oppression.

6 RepliesActually, everything was fine and dandy until a portion of the community decided to make a huge deal out of the dames. Their group isnt sexist, neither is an all male group. Not at least until a bunch of guys around here started playing the victim and made it all about themselves. Face it, its not the fact that its an exclusive group that gets to you guys, its the fact that its a female group that bugs you. Anytime a female is identified as a female, this community loses its mind and goes on a rampage. Do you want to know why they made their group? Take a look around the forums at all of the hate and verbal abuse they are getting in some of these threads, and they arent even posting in them! Hell, even the racists started coming out of the woodwork! A lot of people have a maturity issue in this community, people need to grow the F up! And if you take offense to this, then it was directed at you.
-
but....but.....THE PATRIARCHY!
-
Solid points!
-
Well said bravo
-
6 RepliesYou guys take it too serious about female gamers that are apart of the Destiny community. It's pretty ridiculous now at this point. Do you guys want to desperately be apart of the Dames deep down? Reading through these forums sometimes makes me sad to think most of you are the next generation of adults.

Spot on mate.

15 RepliesWhat utter nonsense, and I'm guessing the only degree you have is the 3rd degree from your parents when you miss their curfew.
-
4 RepliesEdited by Rokon: 8/1/2015 10:13:26 AMYou don't need to have multiple degrees to see that an awful lot of guys will go ape shit the instant they hear a female voice through a microphone or see a name that even remotely resembles something a female made. Clans exclusive towards gender/race/etc have been prominent for a long time. It's the G.I.F.T.
